Re: [Bug 1859449] Re: Intento fallido de actualizacion
Good Idea! Unfortunately, since it was a production system, I proceeded to make a copy of the / bin and / home directories, later running a clean installation. I acknowledge that I did not check that PPAs were active in the system and trust that the installer would disable them. [Bug 1578011] Re: Laptop sometimes doesn't detect external monitor when docked
I can try to update the BIOS, but given that the BIOS release notes (see below) don't mention anything regarding this, it's not likely to fix anything. The issue disappeared for a while, but has returned in the past month or so; I'm guess a kernel driver update fixed it, then regressed. BIOS 1.29 release notes: [Important updates] Nothing. [Bug 1591862] [NEW] [Wishlist] Easy authentication via Bluetooth
Public bug reported: For some time, Android has allowed authentication using a paired bluetooth device. This is particularly convenient, and somewhat secure (not perfect, but convenience vs security...). Linux can provide something similar through blueproximity or libpam-blue. However, blueproximity is more or less abandoned, and is a pain to set up properly. libpam-blue is similarly tricky to configure (I've not tested). A quick and painless way to allow a device to be a 'trusted' device would keep things more secure than autologin, but more convenient than password. Some extra thoughts: a companion app on a phone or smartwatch might provide an extra layer of security, for example using a fingerprint sensor, or noticing if the phone itself is locked/unlocked. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: authentication bluetooth wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1591862 Title: [Wishlist] Easy authentication via Bluetooth To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1591862/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1307778] Re: getent group on trusty returns only local groups
The same problem occurs in Kubuntu 14.04. What I discovered when investigating errors in the generation of user directories. The installation is new, as it was replaced an existing server operating with Kubuntu 12.04. The samba configuration was modified to allow emergency access to all users without restriction. Currently is only open to a limited group of users network folders with full access. The creation of user boxes "on the fly" is operational. [Bug 1007336] [NEW] ~/.recently-used.xbel disappearing after login vmware player empty vm list
Public bug reported: After logging in in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (all updates installed to date), an existing file ~/.recently-used.xbel disappears each time, which makes it easy to reproduce. vmware player 4.0.x uses this file (probably via gtk) to store its list of recently opened VMs. Because this files gets deleted just after logging in, the list of available VMs in vmware player will be empty, and will have to be recreated. I have been unable to find which process deletes this file, or why. Apparently apparmor might have to do something with it (see apparmor config file), but I don't think so, since changing its config file to exclude this file doesn't resolve it. In my opinion deleting this file is a bug, or at least an undocumented feature where there should be an option to avoid the deletion. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apparmor gtk recently-used.xbel vmwareplayer -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1007336 Title: ~/.recently-used.xbel disappearing after login vmware player empty vm list To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1007336/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 666604] Re: Touchscreen unusual in multi-head system
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 natty ubuntu ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg I'm using a touchscreen laptop (fujitsu T4410). Touchscreen works fine, but when I plug an (non-touchscreen) external monitor in and go dual- head, the touch functionality 'stretches' across the multiple screens. e.g. I have the external monitor above the laptop monitor. When I touch the bottom of the touchscreen, the touch is (almost) correct. When I touch the top of the touchscreen, the pointer goes to the top of the external monitor. [Bug 747585] Re: Mouse and Keyboard keep focus in one window
I've located the problem in my case. Apparently my mouse buttons wared- off (8 years old Logitech), which leaded to sporadic short circuits. However, Mac OS X and Vista seem to handle issue much better. Now I'm using a new mouse and so far - no problems. I found a thread with similar issue on one of the forums. It turns out this problem is above Linux distributions because it's related to X.org. Here is Google Translate of the thread: http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=pl&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.linux.pl%2Fviewtopic.php%3Fid%3D17388%26action%3Dnew&act=url You can try to edit your xorg.conf file. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/747585 Title: Mouse and Keyboard keep focus in one window -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 666604] [NEW] Touchscreen unusual in multi-head system
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I'm using a touchscreen laptop (fujitsu T4410). Same situation in the vertical dimension. What should happen is that touch events only occur on the touchscreen monitor This may be tricky, as the touch driver (for this particular machine) is wacom, so the machine probably sees the touch device as a wacom pen tablet. [Bug 397806] Re: cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!
Andrei, and anybody else who this may help, I found a workaround... the solution to your problem is to go to cdrecord's website and download the newest version of cdrecord. Lets say you download it to your Downloads folder. Unzip it, and in the terminal type (without quotes) "cd /home/david(you're user name I'm assuming)/Downloads/(the name of the cdr-tools folder, ex. cdrtools-2.01a) then type "sudo make", hit enter, it'll ask for your password, type it and hit enter. Then type "sudo make install". Now type these commands, enter after each line. This will move out of the way the useless wodim files previously on your computer, you can copy and paste these lines to your terminal. sudo mkdir /opt/schily/replacedfiles sudo mv /usr/bin/cdrecord /opt/schily/replacedfiles sudo mv /usr/bin/genisoimage /opt/schily/replacedfiles sudo mv /usr/bin/mkisofs /opt/schily/replacedfiles sudo mv /usr/bin/readom /opt/schily/replacedfiles sudo mv /usr/bin/wodim /opt/schily/replacedfiles next you'll link your new files to where k3b will look, hit enter after each line, you can copy and paste sudo ln -s /opt/schily/bin/cdrecord /usr/bin/cdrecord sudo ln -s /opt/schily/bin/mkisofs /usr/bin/genisoimage sudo ln -s /opt/schily/bin/mkisofs /usr/bin/mkisofs sudo ln -s /opt/schily/bin/readcd /usr/bin/readom sudo ln -s /opt/schily/bin/cdrecord /usr/bin/wodim sudo ln -s /opt/schily/bin/readcd /usr/bin/readcd sudo ln -s /opt/schily/bin/mkhybrid /usr/bin/mkhybrid sudo ln -s /opt/schily/bin/cdda2wav /usr/bin/cdda2wav now install k3b and write in RAW mode, I wouldn't go higher than 8x. You'll be able to write cds now. The whole reason you had this problem was because Ubuntu does not come with an original version of cdrecord, but an inferior modified version. Please Ubuntu, in 10.04 please please please use the full original version of cdrecord. You can burn DVD's in Dao mode, i think because it uses dvdtools, I wouldn't go higher than 4x. -- cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/397806 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
