[Bug 319107] Re: Jabber whiteboard doesn't work

2009-01-20 Thread vonHalenbach
I am sorry, that you can't share your drawings in a live session as
expected. The whiteboard functionality is to my knowlege still quite
undeveloped and not considered stable enough for real use. Because of
this, we call it still beta and to my knowlege it is not enabled by
default.

If you know someone who can invest some hours coding time on this
whiteboard, please get in touch with one of the leading developers of
inkscape.

Best regards

Stefan

[Bug 242015] Re: package motion 3.2.9-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script killed by signal (Interrupt)

2008-07-17 Thread vonHalenbach
Yes, i had the same issue. Motion should just configure itself, but
instead it is started as a video server and has to be killed to go on
with the configuration of other packages in synaptic. As i see it in
another bugreport, it is fixed in the package motion 3.2.9-1ubuntu1.

Hello Xuande.

Could you please provide more information on your issue?

* On which serial port did you connect your hardware terminal?
* Did you properly setup your getty to respond to your terminal?
* Could it be, that you tried to reset your terminal from the linux console
e.g. xterm? ( If so, an reset xterm works here.)

More information on how to setup a hardware terminal can be found here:

[Bug 138335] Re: [gutsy] [beta] xubuntu panel pager missing

2007-10-05 Thread vonHalenbach
I have tried it. I passed -- break=init to the kernel and came in a
shell, but in this shell i could not edit /etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc because
at this time it doesn't exist. Only when i already booted into the
system, i can go there and edit it, but then it makes no sense anymore.

I have seen, that the panel must be loaded, but it does not load
completly, because the icons on it(firefox, Apllications, places) do not
appear. It displays only the grey bars for about a second and then the
blue background and the icons on the background appear( my harddisks,
floppy, trash) and that's it.

I searched around on the system a bit and found that this must be a xfce
session. There is a file in the directory
/etc/xdg/xfce4-session/xfce4-session.rc which might be the one with the error
inside.
I found a line withThunar, --daemon which i belive won't work as it is.
This session file is automaticly used for systems which have no session file at
all, which is true for a fresh started live cd.

[Bug 138335] Re: [gutsy] [beta] xubuntu panel pager missing

2007-10-05 Thread vonHalenbach
The file is there in the root directory, as you sayd, but i can't edit
them with nano or vim. Every time i try to run any program in this shell
i get an error message.

nano:error while loading shared libraries:libncursesw.5.so

This is already above my abilities, because i may have to mount the
squashfs on my memory, edit and then boot further from there. The only
idea, that comes to my mind is to patch the binary of the squashfs and
burn a new cd to test those changes you suggested, jani.

[Bug 146990] Re: [Gusty] can't get my wired connection to work with Xubuntu

2007-09-30 Thread vonHalenbach
Thank you for testing Xubuntu Gutsy!

What does the command ifconfig and dmesg say? I know it is a live cd and
therefore it may be very difficult for you to put this information here. I just
want to know if ifconfig shows at least a device called eth0. Look if it is
there. If it is not, then look what the command dmesg says in a terminal. Look
for messages like this:
[ 39.057016] eth0: RealTek RTL8139 at 0xd4858000, 00:50:ba:b4:81:68, IRQ 10
[ 39.057023] eth0: Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8139C'

This means my network adaptor is found.

Do you maybe use a DSL-connection? then you may want to configure your
connection with the command pppoeconf

To open a terminal press on the middle button of your mouse and select
terminal.

I had this issue with kubuntu feisty. I deleted some files (put them in
the trash) and then i tried to flush the trash can. It wouldn't flush or

files with higher rights, flushing was impossible. I did not try it with

I can confirm on xubuntu-7.10-beta-desktop-i386.iso from 25-Sep-2007
12:16 554M .

The xfce4-panel seems to not be started automaticly. I can open a terminal an
issue the command xfce4-panel manually.
This affects usability of the live cd very much, so i think the importance
should be increased from medium to high.

I have tested this with different settings for language and graphics
resolutions. I even tried the save graphics mode without success.
The file /var/log/Xorg.0.log shows that i use the fb graphics driver. My

[Bug 138335] Re: [gutsy] [beta] xubuntu panel pager missing

2007-09-30 Thread vonHalenbach
I am currently on the livecd. There are indeed some error messages. I am
not brave enough to install it on this computer, because i don't want to
damage my working Kubuntu Feisty system. Tomorrow, i am able to test an
installation on a spare computer.

I have seen, that when i choose a resolution above 800x600px, that i get
no splash screen when the livecd boots and that the spash screen is
distorted with all rainbow colors when i shutdown the system. This may
be related to this bug.

Is it possible to use a command on the kernel, to start up with a fixed
resolution and the framebuffer driver or the nv driver? I have the
graphics card Geforce2 MX400.

[Bug 40196] Re: Misnamed .po file

2007-09-08 Thread vonHalenbach
There is no misnamed po file in package kde-i18n-tg. Or not anymore
because this bug is a year old.

I have located the translation of this software in the package
language-pack-kde-tg-base where it really belongs.

If you still have no working translation please update this package.

Since it is already fixed, this bug can be closed.

[Bug 58734] Re: Kinfocenter crashes when the OpenGL information panel is selected

2007-08-11 Thread vonHalenbach
I am sure, that i had this exact same bug with feisty fawn, too. I had made
several updates and i can't confirm this bug anymore. I get a normal error
message, when i press on this button in kinfocenter.
This bug seems to be bound to the original vesa driver in connection with the
original feisty kernel.
I had changed my driver to the propritary old nvidia driver and had no problems
since then.
Now i use the vesa driver again with an updated kernel.

[Bug 96210] Re: kpdf crashes when changing to full screen

2007-03-29 Thread vonHalenbach
I did test your pdf and one that was over 5 megabytes big. Still no
crash here.

Which version of Kpdf do you use?
You can simply go to the konsole and issue the command:
 kpdf -v
Then you get something like this:
Qt: 3.3.7
KDE: 3.5.6
KPDF: 0.5.6
paste it here.

Is the crash every time when you go to full screen with this pdf? If
yes, can you attach a backtrace here please?

After you made the backtrace, can you update kpdf and test again if the
bug is still there?

Greetings
Stefan

On the site of the development from the zd1211rw driver they say that the chip
with b at the end. (zd1211b) is a bit different and needs its driver compiled
differently, to work correct. Is it possible to make a different kernel-module
for this chip? I am using a testing snapshot of Feisty. Kernel:

[Bug 42778] Re: svg thumbnail previews in konqueror are truncated rather than scaled

2007-03-21 Thread vonHalenbach
This is maybe an error of ksvg. I can confirm this for Kubuntu Dapper
Drake.
