Yep. It's a bug with the ligthgm setup. Replacing it with gdm solves the
problem

[Bug 969489] Re: lightdm tries (and fails) to start too early?

2013-08-16 Thread walec51
Excerpts from Clint Byrum (clint-fewbar) message:

Second, I'm pretty sure this is a hardware specific problem caused
by drivers lying to the system about the state of the hardware, and
subsequently dying when actually asked to function. This is only exposed
on systems that boot extremely fast.

I've bought a Dell Precision M6500 because it was Ubuntu certified. But
just when I installed a second SSD (from Kingstone) it put me into this
bug and a daily struggle to boot my laptop.

So this does not seam to be hardware specific. It just seams that Ubuntu
does not run properly on SSD drives (which actually means that Ubuntu
does not run on modern hardware).

[Bug 865167] [NEW] When mouting fat all files should be executable

2011-10-03 Thread walec51
Public bug reported:

This was the default behavior in Ubuntu 10

Now by default *.bat files are executable but *.sh are not.
I have no way to change this without some console mayhem.

I cannot run for example applications based on tomcat on a fat partition

./catalina.sh
instead of
sh catalina.sh

[Bug 417757] Re: [karmic regression] all network apps / browsers suffer from multi-second delays by default due to IPv6 DNS lookups

2009-11-02 Thread walec51
@rsoulliere thank you very much, your link in #66 solved this issue for
me.

Personally I regret trying to upgrade to Karmic. I had a severe bug in
Jaunty that freezed my system once a day. When I upgraded to Karmic my
system began to be unbootable because of an sergv in mountall. When I
reinstalled I had no net :/

For those that say that the problem is in the way routes and some dns servers
handle ip6:
So Karmic was released to show use how bad network equipment we bought ? to
teach us a lesson ?

This bug should be a show stopper, at least for the feature change
caused it. Ubuntu is becoming more unusable release after release. I'll
try to do more beta and alpha tests my self in the future but I can see
here beta testers comments didn't help.

[Bug 293352] Re: Pidgin freezes on launch with no status icon or window

2009-01-26 Thread walec51
I have a similar experience on Ubuntu 8.04.
I've attached the debug log. The freeze happened on 13:55:48.
This only happens when Pidgin is set to auto-connect on start up.
When I type pidgin -n it always works fine.

Had the same problem. Lost 3D acceleration after upgrade from edgy to
feisty.

Nicolas Gorguès workaround worked for me.
