[Bug 1199774] Re: needs DAV and ICAL support

2015-04-12 Thread wayneoutthere
Totally agree. No calendar sync is absolutely priority A1A. I am a
full time realtor and I was showing everyone I know both agents and
clients how I am fully converted but the calendar thing is forcing me
back to android. I really, really, don't want to go backwards. Thanks
so much for pushing this calendar hard.

[Bug 1441154] Re: Built in Apport-Like Bug and Suggestion Reporting Tool Needed

2015-04-09 Thread wayneoutthere
Excellent. No other mobile OS cares what the users think nor gives them
a quick way to give feedback so the potential of Ubuntu becoming the
best by a long shot, in my opinion, depends on this feature and the
ability to have users give, for free, their real-world opinions and bug
reports. Thansk for not trashing the idea!

[Bug 1296275] Re: PTP Cameras not working on 14.04, works flawlessly on 12.04

2015-01-19 Thread wayneoutthere
I've tried pretty much everything I can above. I've checked the #44
above and done it and besides that the packge looked correct anyways
before I opened it. The computer was updated fully before trying. It
seems this bug is connected to just Canon now as the reports above seem
to fix the others.

here is the link to the paste of the command line stuff from the
machine: http://paste.ubuntu.com/9789752/

the exact model number is the Canon SX20 IS as per Robert above.

version is 14.04 fully up to date on 64 bit machine

Anything else i can do to help you resolve this would be awesome as my
mom is not liking using the SD card removal each time. This worked
perfectly before the upgrade to 14.04.

Thanks!

[Bug 1408405] Re: GPG needs to be initialized (give option to set up upon install)

2015-01-07 Thread wayneoutthere
Missed point. Needs to be part of installation procedure and integrate
with Operating System. Sorry for my lack of clarity. needs to be opt
in, not 'find in command line' I wish I was more technically savvy but
all I know is this kind of security needs to be built right into OS.
Have you heard of Retroshare? I just installed it and that is EXACTLY
what I'm talking about.

[Bug 1408405] Re: GPG needs to be initialized (give option to set up upon install)

2015-01-07 Thread wayneoutthere
sorry, let me be more specific than that. When I install ubuntu I get
all these classy screens like 'do you want to encrypt your hard drive?
or 'what keyboard do you use and 'Where are you located? What I'm
suggesting we need here is a screen like that where it says GPG
certificates help maintain privacy of information. You will need such
keys for secure emails and other upcoming technologies. We will
generate these keys now for you so that you can get started in your new
safe Ubuntu environment. Something like that. Then the person has to
say 'No, I don't want to bother with enhanced security' and opt-out.
Then when installation is complete, their keys are in a special place
(gnp folder?) ready to go for things like Enigmail and other such
usages. I hope that description helps more.

[Bug 868400] Re: Synaptics touchpad stops working - two syndaemon instances running

2012-02-10 Thread wayneoutthere
Hi again. Turns out my issue in #104 above must not be related to this
as it persists. I'll have to search more on skype and hardware I
guess... Thanks for all your contributions here regardless

[Bug 868400] Re: Synaptics touchpad stops working - two syndaemon instances running

2012-02-08 Thread wayneoutthere
Just want to make a layman's post on this bug: first, for those like me
using unity and don't know where to mess with your touchpad (mouse area)
settings, just search 'system settings' in your dash. Then you'll see
'mouse and touchpad'. Now my update: it seems that by unchecking the
'disable touchpad while typing' box the freezing of touchpad (and Skype,
interestingly) seems tohave been resolved. I have done about three
reboots and have not seen the freeze yet. I'm on an Aspire One Acer
257-1814 with Ubuntu 11.10. If I don't post back, it worked.

[Bug 473806] Re: ibus hangul input - incorrect syllable transitions

2010-05-12 Thread wayneoutthere
I just upgraded to Lucid Lynx and had to do this all again so i realized
a few small things that I didn't mention above in the steps. Don't
forget to go to system/admin/language support and install your language
before beginning all that ibus stuff above.

also, I forgot to reboot my browser and computer so I wasted a lot of
time. After installing all the Korean stuff, for some reason the
magical 'hangul' font wasn't showing up but just the annoying two that
don't work. Once I did a simple restart, 'hangul' showed up as an
option in the ibus settings (see step #5 above in my instructions).

Hope this helps someone upgrading to Lucid and needing Korean. Now I
must install other fonts to make it look better.

[Bug 473806] Re: ibus hangul input - incorrect syllable transitions

2010-02-24 Thread wayneoutthere
ok, gents. I have the solution as follows. Hope it helps someone:

I'm not sure if you have to enable that 'ibus' option in the language
selector. i did so i will add it as a step. Also, of course, make sure
you've gone through the process of adding the Korean fonts and all that
stuff via the language support window.

1. go to systemadminlanguage support
2. for keyboard input system choose 'ibus' and close that window.
3. go to systempreferencesIBus Preferences
4. click the 'input method' tab in the middle
5. click the 'select an input method' drop down and search for korean' by
scrolling down
6. you should see romaja, han2 (the ones that don't seem to work) and 'Hangul'
with it as well. That's the one that was missing from all my other efforts.
7. select 'Hangul' and then click the 'add' button on the right side of that
window.

that's about it. Mine started working after that and I figured out that only
the right 'alt' button toggles the language on and off.

I hope this saves someone some grief.
