[Bug 1464917] Re: reboot hangs at 'Reached target Shutdown'

2015-12-11 Thread Johnny D. Wicked
How is this resolved? I'm having same problem but with ubuntu15.10 with
kernel 4.2. Reboot works fine but when I try shutting down, I get to the
ubuntu purple splash screen with text saying reboot: powering down or
something like that and it just freeze. I waited like 4 hours and it's
stuck. I had to manually power it off by holding the power button on the
laptop. Need help with this problem. :(

[Bug 179042] Re: Videos tear and "blink" when enabling compiz [AMD Feature #7647]

2008-11-05 Thread Wicked
Bryce, to me this bug seems to be a regression, as I have a working 7.10
partition with FGRLX and Compiz. Maybe going back to an older driver
would work. I would be happy to test it if you let me know which driver
you think is best and provide a link to a download or .deb file.

[Bug 293408] [NEW] tsocks missing in Intrepid repository

2008-11-03 Thread Wicked
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tsocks

I have triple checked and can't find tsocks in the Intrepid repository.
I downloaded the .deb file from launchpad. I am certain I am not the
only person who needs to tunnel non-socks aware applications through
SSH.

If this is the wrong place to file this please contact me and let me
know the correct place.

[Bug 283306] Re: Intrepid fails to configure X11 properly on Toshiba A215 w/ATI x1300

2008-10-14 Thread Wicked
please give us back displayconfig-gtk. I do not have any desire to have
to manually edit the xorg.conf file.

If not displayconfig-gtk then some form of gui for selecting a graphics
card, monitor, resolution, etc. The simple reality is that no matter
how good hardware detection is on a PC there will *ALWAYS* be hardware
that isn't detected. Thus a tool such as displayconfig-gtk quickly
fixes problems like this one.

[Bug 283306] [NEW] Intrepid fails to configure X11 properly on Toshiba A215 w/ATI x1300

2008-10-14 Thread Wicked
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 8.10 Beta the install and x-fix recovery script fail to
configure X11 on Toshiba A215 with an ATI x1300.

After the initial boot I intalled mplayer and tried to play a video.
Mplayer failed with a no screen found error. So I ran xvinfo and
determined that I was not using accelerated drivers. So I checked the
xorg.conf file and found it was basically empty. Then I rebooted into
recovery mode and ran the X-Fix script. Still no configuration.

[Bug 209974] Re: Xubuntu Hardy live installer doesn't detect HDD partitions

2008-09-16 Thread Wicked
I am having this problem as well. The disks partitions were setup with
Ubuntu 8.04 gParted, so I am not quite certain how Xubuntu can not read
the partitions. (I did notice a line in the syslog about the sd driver
needing to be updating "Sep 17 00:23:07 ubuntu kernel: [ 78.961984]
Driver 'sd' needs updating - please use bus_type methods" I don't know
if this is a help.) I have booted Ubuntu 8.04 and it can see the
partitions fine. I will attach my Ubuntu syslog and partlog after I try
deleting the partition I was going to reinstall to and see if that is a
work around.

As mentioned several times fdisk can see the partitions fine.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo fdisk -l

[Bug 67487] Re: [edgy][regression][rv280] black screen and console freeze when X starts - drm lockup

2006-11-15 Thread wicked
i get the blank screen with cursor blinking. (6.10)

this is after the horiztonal loading screen has been going for ~2-3
mins. cd and hdd drives stop for a bit (while the horizontal bar is
loading) for the last minute then the blank screen.

brand new Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M (rev 2)
brand new Sempron 2800+ socket 754
512 DDR Ram
ATI Radeon 9250 AGP

the MD5 of my downloaded ISO file checked out fine. also did the 'check
cd integrity' check on the same pc i was trying to install it on -
completed successfully.

tried normal and safe vga mode with no luck

i also took out the Radeon AGP card and used the onboard video
(Integrated UniChromeTM2 Graphics) and the same thing happened.
