[Bug 995886] Re: browse/import photos from camera broken in 12.04
@seb128 - the description seems pretty similar to this one, though: the computer freezes because it doesn't have resources to keep up with hdd hammering. If I plug the camera off it resumes. [Bug 925350] Re: Display problem (thin fading white vertical lines) after kernel upgrade to 3.0.0.15, no login window
Seth: It was with the working kernel - set #9 in this bug report, actually - the kernel with your commit reverted. I tried with the broken one, both by ssh-ing and connecting it to an external monitor, but had no luck: could not ssh into the machine and the external monitor displayed a black screen with the ubuntu logo (the splash screen that usually hides the boot messages) I am now in a 3.0.0-14 boot and right now/proc/cmdline has BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.0.0-14-generic root=UUID=6ab741a0-9959-4edd- ba60-0cdc28c819de ro quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor vt.handoff=7 I confirmed these are the same options as I see in Grub in the broken 15 kernel. I've also just grep-ed i915 in modprobe.d/* but no file has any reference to it. I suppose these files wouldn't be changed based on the kernel that you choose on startup (would they?), so the broken 3.0.0-15 that is installed probably doesn't have them either. What else can be done so we can figure out what is wrong? [Bug 455045] Re: nfs-kernel-server doesn't start automatically at startup
Hi Steve, As requested: 1) syslog3, the log after the change in portmap.conf 2) This is a new Zotac Ion computer, which has a N330 processor, 2GB of ram and one 1TB sata drive. Not the quickest of the machines, I suppose, although it starts quickly (boot in 15-20 secs) 3) The /etc/networks/interfaces only has commented stuff. I added it because that's how I used to define static IP addresses, but I commented when I figured out that would make the NetworkManager applet not work as it should. Here's the cat: #auto lo #iface lo inet loopback #auto eth0 #iface eth0 inet static #address 192.168.1.100 #netmask 255.255.255.0 #gateway 192.168.1.1 ** Attachment added: syslog3 http://launchpadlibrarian.net/34496547/syslog3 -- nfs-kernel-server doesn't start automatically at startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/455045 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Oh, as for 2) do you have a lot of devices... No. I only have a bluetooth usb adapter and an usb receiver for a wireless media keyboard/mouse. [Bug 456238] Re: empty message-id, no date in Evolution MUA
The explanation for this issue is in Postfix 2.6.5's release notes (http://www.sfr- fresh.com/unix/misc/postfix-2.6.5.tar.gz:a/postfix-2.6.5/RELEASE_NOTES): 240 [Incompat 20090330] Postfix now adds (Resent-) From:, Date:, 241 Message-ID: or To: headers only when clients match 242 $local_header_rewrite_clients. Specify always_add_missing_headers 243 = yes for backwards compatibility. Adding such headers can break 244 DKIM signatures that cover headers that are not present. 245 compatibility with existing logfile processing software, Postfix 246 will log ``message-id='' for messages without Message-Id header. [Bug 456238] Re: empty message-id, no date in Evolution MUA
More info: I changed the email in the service to another email account whose server I control (and is older than the one I'm having issues with). Here's the header. Notice that there is a Date: field, which is missing from the previous header. So something in the new version (and the reason for this bug report) is preventing the Date: from being in the header! [Bug 385076] Re: [9.10 regression] HDA NVIDIA HDMI no sound after alsa 1.0.20 update
[SOLUTION] Regarding this problem, I found the solution by running alsamixer and toggling the option: IEC958 1 (ie, going to that option and pressing 'm'). The problem is that I can't see a way of doing that without alsamixer, ie with the audio desktop applet, so there's no way the general user will make this work without losing sometime searching for the answer online... -- [9.10 regression] HDA NVIDIA HDMI no sound after alsa 1.0.20 update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/385076 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 385076] Re: [9.10 regression] HDA NVIDIA HDMI no sound after alsa 1.0.20 update
Alright Luke, I did what you said. Between steps 2 and 3 I had to kill pulseaudio (otherwise 3 would not run pulseaudio -vvv). The test case was: 1. Play an mp3 song 2. Switch from analog audio to HDMI output in the Profile list of the Hardware section: song stopped playing in my headphones and didn't start playing on my television screen 3. Switched back to analog audio and song resumed in my headphones (btw, I don't know if it shows in the log file, but I actually switched from analog-hdmi-analog-hdmi). Also, I tried running pavucontrol and I actually see the volume mixer moving when I'm in HDMI ouput and the song is playing. But no sound comes out of the tv speakers... ** Attachment added: pulse-output.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/33378551/pulse-output.log -- [9.10 regression] HDA NVIDIA HDMI no sound after alsa 1.0.20 update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/385076 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 423618] [NEW] Error printing two sided on HP OfficeJet Pro L7600 - wrong PPD file in package
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hplip I have an HP OfficeJet Pro L7600 printer which was working correctly on a network with Windows and Hardy machines. I changed it to another network with Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty machines. Configured the printer with HPLIP, printed a test page and all was well. However, upon printing two sided, I got some errors after printing the first side of the page. The printer status on Ubuntu was: /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed and Cups' log said it had an error status 9 After painful hours, I decided to use a modified (by me) version of the PPD on my Hardy machine. And it works correctly! So it seems there might be a problem with the ppd file of this printer on newer versions.
