[Bug 1902343] Re: Please merge xmobar 0.36-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2020-11-12 Thread William Wilhelm
My mistake I thought the tests were run during the build.

Can someone with the rights check the autopkgtests against my PPA?

Something like
https://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/request.cgi/?release=groovy&arch=arm64&package=xmobar&ppa=willat8
%2Fubuntu-desktop&trigger=xmobar%2F0.36-2ubuntu1ppa2 according to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ProposedMigration#Testing_against_a_PPA

package to do the PPA build. Builds succeeded on all the existing

[Bug 1876298] Re: Upgrade from Ubuntu Mate 18.04 to 20.04 fails

2020-05-01 Thread Ingo Wilhelm
I found the problem.

/var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log
contained the lines

Broken libk3b7-extracodecs:amd64 Depends on libavcodec58:amd64 < none |
7:4.2.2-1ubuntu1 @un uH > (>= 7:4.0)
  Considering libavcodec58:amd64 70 as a solution to libk3b7-extracodecs:amd64 1
  MarkKeep libk3b7-extracodecs:amd64 < 17.12.3-0ubuntu3 -> 19.12.3-0ubuntu1 @ii
umU Ib > FU=0
Holding Back libk3b7-extracodecs:amd64 rather than change libavcodec58:amd64

I eventually found out that libk3b7-extracodecs belongs to the DVD
burning application K3B.

After deinstalling K3B with

apt remove k3b
apt autoremove

the upgrade to Ubuntu Mate 20.04 was successful.

2018-09-11 Thread Wilhelm Hagg
I just had this problem and solved it with the "mouse ping" comment from
Bernd Rothert (bro) above. Not sure it is an issue of Remmina or the
"mouse ping".

I am using
Remmina: 0.9.99.1
Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela (Ubuntu 14.04)

Not sure, this might be fixed in newer releases?

[Bug 1581640] Re: package libpam-systemd:amd64 229-4ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 128

2016-11-23 Thread wilhelm
I got the bug during update from 15.10 to 16.04 gnome flavoured ubuntu
(amd64)

the error was something like:
failed to install systemd exit code 2

and all the depending packages (including gnome itself) failed due to
dependency problems

the distro-upgrade ended with a partial rollback.

Before reboot I did an
dpkg --configure -a
which resulted in: too many errors, break
So I tried
apt-get install systemd
which worked perfectly
and afterwards I did
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
and my distro-upgrade was fine

PS sorry for not havin noted down the exact error messages, I was panicking a
little

[Bug 1522675] Re: Can't drop privileges for downloading : _apt user not allowed

I only had that whily trying to install ttf-mscorefonts-installer
The problem appeared after upgrading from 15.10 gnome-ubuntu flavour to its
16.04 LTS version (amd64)

I solved the problem by downloading (manually) the 3.6 version of
ttf-mscorefonts-installer from debian
(https://packages.debian.org/de/sid/all/ttf-mscorefonts-installer/download).
installing that package with gnome's software center (and probably also
ubuntu's software center) works perfectly.

Probably this is a workaround and not a solution

Same here on Gnome Ubunte 13.04 and FF 24 , but only with some Filetypes.
Torrent Files or Deb Packages don't get any group permissions for example.

[Bug 983681] Re: Floppy keeps running forever after every access

2012-12-16 Thread Hartmut Wilhelm
Is there already any bugfix/solution/workaround?

I installed fdutils from the Ubuntu software center and added
"floppycontrol -C 2147483647" in my file /etc/rc.local. (For a short
description of the command, see
http://www.fdutils.linux.lu/Fdutils.html#SEC83.) Now, my floppy disk
drive motor stops after every access, but I do not know if my workaround
causes any side effect.

[Bug 1058672] Re: Can't add my Facebook account

2012-12-06 Thread Andreas Wilhelm
Installed it from the precise-proposed repo and added my facebook account.
Now the account is listed but no Messages show up. And in the Settings it still
says "Authorize with Facebook",
not "authorized" like the Twitter account. Already deleted the config files,
but it didn't help.
Any Ideas?

[Bug 1069733] [NEW] Release upgrade 12.10 - kubuntu-netbook could not be installed

2012-10-22 Thread Wilhelm Wienemann
Public bug reported:

On the beginning of my release update to kubuntu 12.10 (from 12.04) I got an
error-message:
"kubuntu-netbook" couldn't be installed"

If I close this message, then there where messages that packages must be
removed, because there are problems to remove this during the release-
update, for example the packages:

kubuntu-desktop
update-manager
update-notifier
update-manager-kde

When I remove this packages individuelly, then I can't upgrade my
system. So I installed these packages again.

Trying to start furthermore release-upgrades, unfortunately I got the same
error-message again and again.
What are wrong on my system?

[Bug 653284] Re: log rotation config not removed after uninstall

2010-10-02 Thread Wilhelm
I'm on Lucid(64Bit).
I can't reproduce it anymore either.
I manually removed the file in /etc/logrotate.d/
I tried installing and removing setroubleshoot via apt-get and via
software-center(i used that the first time), but there was no file in
/etc/logrotate.d/ created.
I definitely didn't create a file for logrotating in the first place, and I
don't know which program or setting did it either.

[Bug 653284] [NEW] log rotation config not removed after uninstall

2010-10-01 Thread Wilhelm
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: setroubleshoot

Everyday I get an email from anacron, informing me that the logrotate
for setroubleshoot failed:

>Anacron job 'cron.daily' on ...
>
>/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:
>error: error accessing /var/log/setroubleshoot: No such file or directory
>error: setroubleshoot:1 glob failed for /var/log/setroubleshoot/*.log

I installed setroubleshoot, but deinstalled it shortly afterwards without using.
Apparently the entry in /etc/logrotate.d is not removed when uninstalling
setroubleshoot.

Re: [Bug 465401] Re: screen freezes but ubuntu is still working

2010-09-09 Thread Nils Wilhelm
  Hi,

thanks for your message!

I have updated my system to the latest version today and it seems like
the problem isn't present anymore. The screen does not freeze neither
during a download nor during some time with no mouse-moving. So the
"bug" must be fixed recently, because the problem was present some weeks
ago.

Best regards,

Nils

[Bug 465401] [NEW] screen freezes but ubuntu is still working

2009-10-30 Thread Nils Wilhelm
Public bug reported:

I installed 8.04 on my Nexoc Osiris E705 III and everything worked fine.
Using one of the following releases (including the new 09.10) i
encounter the following problem: I log on to the system und do nothing
(not even move the mouse). After some minutes the clock is not refreshed
anymore. As i start moving the mouse, the clock is refreshed to the
correct time! -> The system works properly, but the screen freezes. If i
start a download and do not move the mouse, the same error occurs. If i
move the mouse after a few minutes, the download goes on.

the message is "unexpected error", almost at the middle of the burning

[Bug 148996] "ATI card (ATI Radeon® Xpress 1150 256MB HyperMemoryTM (integrated)) won't run beryl"

2007-10-04 Thread David Wilhelm
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 7:4 I tried to install it and i came up with errors telling me
that my x server was messed up. So i fixed that problem and when i got
it up and running i wanted beryl to run on my OS and it wouldn't because
of the my ATI video card. I know ATI promised to release the drivers
soon but i have not found them yet. When i tried to download the 7.10
Beta i got the same problem only this time i didn't have any X server
problems. I was wondering if their was a driver i could install to get
beryl to run on my notebook. I am using an Dell Inspiron 1501 with an
ATI Radeon® Xpress 1150 256MB HyperMemoryTM (integrated)4 video card.
If someone can find a driver, or a solution to the problem that would be
great! Email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks!
