Forgot to say: yes, I was seeing those (occasional) hpet messages also, so might be worth trying hpet=disable appended to the kernel command line and seeing how this affects the performance under 2.6.32-21. hpet on some machines can apparently cause problems with dynticks due to buggy hardware. ** Also affects: linux Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Lucid] Poor scrolling performance in browser (Firefox and Chrome, possibly others) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562293 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 500417] Re: nautilus doesn't honor gnome theme
@ Sebastien Bacher: While my whole desktop got changed back to some kind of default theme after changing my monitor setup (possibly a different bug), I managed to restore the theme using Preferences -> Appearance -> Theme dialog, except for Nautilus. Nautilus is the only app that I have noticed (so far) that did not respond to resetting the theme. Ihotari's workaround worked for me. It seems Gnome are changing the meta-data system from gconf to gsettings and this is likely to do with this problem (http://library.gnome.org/devel/gio/unstable/ch23.html) -- nautilus doesn't honor gnome theme https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/500417 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 500417] Re: nautilus doesn't honor gnome theme
I can confirm this happens to me also in Lucid final (originally installed from scratch as Beta2). Thanks for the workaround! It occured for me after setting up my 2nd monitor (along with other annoying Gnome issues such as panel items being rearranged). [Bug 562138] Re: radeon KMS causes corrupt VGA output on X1400
Apologies, like Cameron states this does seem to be radeon KMS related. After switching to a VT after booting with nomodeset appended, I realised this parameter has no effect. Booting as Cameron does, with radeon.modeset=0 vga=771 resolves the problem. When enabling the 2nd monitor with KMS disabled there is a dialogue appearing titled "Monitor Resolution Settings" asking if we want to change the virtual resolution, this does not appear when KMS is enabled. -- radeon KMS causes corrupt VGA output on X1400 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562138 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 562293] [NEW] [Lucid] Poor scrolling performance in browser (Firefox and Chrome, possibly others)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox Poor scrolling in Firefox and Google-Chrome beta in Lucid. Using radeon driver with X1400 GPU on a Thinkpad T60 on latest Lucid Beta 2 (fully updated on 13/04/2010). Probably needs to be assigned to xorg-video-ati or xorg-xserver or something like that, but for now I just used apport to report the problem with Firefox. Note: This has been tested with KMS both enabled and disabled (using nomodeset kernel append) the problem is present in both circumstances. Just to add some extra information: This happens to my system regardless of KMS, If I use kernel append: nomodeset the same thing happens (unstable VGA output on laptops external port). With regards to obtaining an image (a wobbly one) at all on external VGA: it seems only possible at 75Hz, if I attempt to change this to 60Hz in Preferences -> Monitors this is where the whole system hangs. -- radeon KMS causes corrupt VGA output on X1400 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562138 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Additionally, as a feature request, having apport-collect prompt for some 'cover' text from the user to explain the context or reasons that the files are being attached, which could be added to the comment with the files attached. [Bug 562245] [NEW] Apport - apport-collect attaches each file to a new comment
Public bug reported: When using a apport-collect to provide an existing bug with additional information, any files attached to the bug are each attached to a new comment. When there are many apport hooks for the bug's package this can lead to a overly long and confusing bug report. [Bug 562138] Re: radeon KMS causes corrupt VGA output on X1400
Same here using fully updated Lucid Beta 2 on AMD64 laptop with ATI X1400 graphics. The above files are from apport on my system (sorry about the individual postings - how do we get apport-collect to attach all files to a single comment within an already existing bug report?) The built in panel on the Thinkpad T60 laptop (1680 x 1050) runs fine, but the external monitor (1280 x 1024) connected via VGA (15 pin d-sub) displays a picture that is just about readable but wobbles in very small waves. [Bug 531235] Re: Lucid Alpha 3 Live CD goes to blank screen
The same thing happens here with Lucid Alpha 3 after dist-upgrade from Karmic, on AMD64, with Nvidia GeForce 7050 integrated GPU. Screen remains blank after seeing "Grub loading..." message. The annoying thing it does not allow me to enter grub menu by hitting escape key any more, so no hope of trying different kernel command lines to resolve this. -- Lucid Alpha 3 Live CD goes to blank screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/531235 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 273837] Re: USB mouse acceleration reset when plugged in
Also having this problem in Karmic (recently started happening). It seems to happen after a resuming from suspend. Like the original post says, the accel/sens sliders under the mouse configuration applet are in the correct positions for my preferred settings but the mouse behaves in the (slower) default way until I move the sliders around a bit. The same thing sometimes happens with the keyboard repeat rate settings also. -- USB mouse acceleration reset when plugged in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273837 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
