[Bug 186149] [NEW] nautilus - recursive copying does not work yet

2008-01-26 Thread writser
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Try copying something into itself. For example, copy /home to your
Desktop (which resides in /home). Nautilus then starts some infinite
copying cycle, copying /home to /home/name/Desktop,
/home/name/Desktop/home to /home/name/Desktop/home/name/Desktop/home,
etc. etc. This was tested on a clean install and upgrade of Hardy on
25/1.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 90249] Re: logitech usb microphone doesn't work properly

2007-04-04 Thread writser
For me the latest version of Feisty does not work with my newly bought
Logitech USB Microphone. I can see the microphone with arecord -l. In
VLC I can use /dev/audio2 as a capure device and then the microphone
_DOES_ work. But it still doesn't work in Gnome (in for example the
sound recorder). Contents of /proc/asound/cards:

  0 [Audigy2]: Audigy2 - Audigy 2 ZS [SB0350]
  Audigy 2 ZS [SB0350] (rev.4, serial:0x20021102) at
0xa000, irq 22
 1 [UART ]: MPU-401 UART - MPU-401 UART
  MPU-401 UART at 0x330, irq 10
 2 [default]: USB-Audio - AK5370
  AKM AK5370 at usb-:00:02.0-1,
full speed

Contents of /proc/asound/devices are attached.

[Bug 90249] Re: logitech usb microphone doesn't work properly

2007-04-04 Thread writser
Note that I also tried the .asound trick as described above. I set
capture.pcm to 2:0 since that is my USB microphone according to
asound/devices and asound/cards.

[Bug 60277] Re: Windows Network entries use a text icon instead of a computer one

2006-10-19 Thread writser
Yes, bug is still around. When I go to the 'network' location in gnome,
I see the 'Windows Network'. When I browse the network, workgroups
sometimes appear as a blank icon and I can't access them. Same for
computers inside workgroups. When pressing 'reload', network locations
switch randomly between a blank icon and the correct icon. See:

http://home.fmf.nl/~writser/ubuntu/asperge_good.png
http://home.fmf.nl/~writser/ubuntu/asperge_wrong.png

I have a DHCP-network at home. I installed Dapper and upgraded to the
most recent Edgy. I have not accessed the 'shared folders' applet yet,
nor have I edited my samba configuration. So, everything is configured
as default.

2006-10-19 Thread writser
To emphasize: even if I see the correct icon and refresh Nautilus, it
sometimes is converted back to a blank icon (and I can't access the
computer / workgroup anymore).

[Bug 39640] Re: [2.0beta3] gaim: status pulldown menu is half empty (drawn offscreen)

2006-10-18 Thread writser
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 17591 ***

The submitted bug is now marked as a duplicate of this one:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116647

This bug is about GtkNotebook: tab states and seems like a completely
different bug to me. I'm no GTK expert though, what do you guys think?

[Bug 63403] Re: Semi-random ugly font rendering in Edgy (no font hinting)

2006-10-15 Thread writser
On my computer, (1) was fixed after removing font.conf (3). I had both
Gnome KDE installed before upgrading my distribution to Edgy. Perhaps
this caused some problems? See:

http://home.fmf.nl/~writser/ubuntu/uglyterminal.png
http://home.fmf.nl/~writser/ubuntu/zoomedin.png

for the way fonts looked in the terminal before fixing (3).

[Bug 63403] Re: Semi-random ugly font rendering in Edgy (no font hinting)

2006-10-15 Thread writser
When using full hinting, all fonts are not blurred.
medium hinting : some fonts blurred (like gnome terminal), most not (like
nautilus)
slight hinting or no hinting : all fonts blurred

This is still true for me though. Strange behaviour.

[Bug 22393] Re: Keyboard shortcuts don't work with Rhythmbox

2006-10-15 Thread writser
I have to remove the keybinding AND restart X before I can use it again.
What makes it even more annoying is that after assigning a shortcut
like: CtrlAltN, the entire 'N' doesn't work anymore. This renders
your desktop pretty unusable. Can anyone confirm this?

[Bug 63551] Re: X.org doesn't detect widescreen resolution

2006-10-15 Thread writser
I completely agree. I had to google up this article to get my 2005FPW
working:

http://www.wiredfool.com/2005/06/15/widescreenLcdsAndUbuntuLinux

And had to manually add the following line to my xorg.conf:

Modeline [EMAIL PROTECTED] 154.20 1680 1712 2296 2328 1050 1071 1081 1103

as well as changing all display modes. Seriously, how is any linux
newbie supposed to figure this out? Widescreen LCD's are getting more
and more common and need support from Ubuntu. A quote from the author of
the article:

I'm not going to belabor the point that it's 2005 and this is one of
the friendlier linux distros that I've dealt with.
