[Bug 1713017] Re: Enable MIDI support
As far as I can see, it is still disabled by default [in kernel bluez](https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/bluetooth/bluez.git/tree/configure.ac#n243) nor [in launchpad](https://git.launchpad.net/bluez/tree/configure.ac#n239), neither do I find in being enabled explicitely in a package (but could not so easily find the package code online). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1713017 Title: Enable MIDI support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1713017/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1713017] Re: Enable MIDI support
@henning that sounds great! In which version did you see this? I expect the build would also need the libasound2-dev dependency, which should be in the control file. I remember that indeed an alsa sequencer device was created on connection; I only tested (when submitting this bug) midi controllers that provided midi notes, which could drive a drum synth (not the other direction), but I'd expect both directions to work.

[Bug 1713017] [NEW] Enable MIDI support
Public bug reported: Now that bluez has landed with 5.46-0ubuntu2, it would be nice to enable Bluetooth MIDI support. This did not seem to be enabled by default in the build from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/5.46-0ubuntu2 (it found BLE MIDI devices, gatttool could talk to them, but no MIDI device was made; also ldd showed no linkage to libasound.so.2). [Bug 883319] Re: xrandr --scale restricts area in which mouse moves
I applied the patch from Chris Wilson to xserver-xorg-core 2:1.16.0-1ubuntu1 and find that my mousepointer now travels to the monitor's edge when using scale with xrandr. [Bug 1006453] Re: Screen brightness is not affected by keys ("MacBook Pro")
Hi, thanks for your bug report. Depending on your specific MacBook model, there could be a directory in /sys/devices/virtual/backlight/ , for example called apple_backlight. If so, you can try to write to the file 'brightness' in there and see if your backlight changes, like this: $ echo 8 | sudo tee /sys/devices/virtual/backlight/apple_backlight/brightness if your backlight changes, the mechanism to change it works but the keys don't. Public bug reported: The "All Settings" page of System Settings generally has short, to-the-point names like "Appearance", "Privacy", "Sound", etc. There are some that are longer, like "Mouse and Touchpad", "Universal Access" and "Language Support". One of the items seems to grab the attention, namely "Wacom Graphics Tablet". It is the only item which takes up three lines for the text label (on the desktops I've encountered). Visually, it is the last item of the set, which helps in attracting attention. Since the name "Wacom" does not seem to add much clue to distinguish what to choose ("Graphics Tablet", or even "Tablet" may suffice), it would be better to drop that. This would clean up the user-interface here. ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1009067 Title: "Wacom Graphics Tablet" slightly dominates the applet overview screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1009067/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 988795] [NEW] update-manager requests curses feedback in folded terminal window
Public bug reported: When doing a graphical upgrade from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04beta3 using `sudo update-manager -d`, the processed seemed to hang quite early in the package installation. It appeared that glibc required user interaction (asking what services to restart after the upgrade), but that the debconf Dialog backend was used. [Bug 703897] Re: globus openssl trouble: please upgrade to gt5.0.2
Thanks for looking into this. At the time I investigated the problem and found that something with an openssl callback didn't work as it should, causing the unknown CA error message. The relevant CA was installed, you can see the locally compiled gt5.0.2 invocation succeeding. What you mention about version numbers is interesting. And the problem is indeed still occuring on 11.04: $ globus-url-copy gsiftp://host/file file:///tmp/q error: globus_ftp_client: the server responded with an error 535 Authentication failed: GSSException: Failure unspecified at GSS-API level [Caused by: Unknown CA] while an strace shows that the correct files from /etc/grid-security/certificates are found and read. Binaries built from upstream's gt5.0.2 do work still. Further investigation shows that Ubuntu's libglobus_gssapi_gsi.so.4 is the culprit; when using upstream's libglobus_gssapi_gsi_gcc64dbg.so.0 (LD_LIBRARY_PATH with symlinks) the same binary works: $ globus-url-copy gsiftp://host/file file:///tmp/q && wc -l /tmp/q error: globus_ftp_client: the server responded with an error 535 Authentication failed: GSSException: Failure unspecified at GSS-API level [Caused by: Unknown CA] $ ldd /usr/bin/globus-url-copy | grep -v '=> \(/usr\)\?/lib' linux-vdso.so.1 => (0x7fffb9cd5000) /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x7fa235081000) $ mkdir /tmp/foo && cd /tmp/foo $ cp /tmp/prefix-gt5.0.2-orig/lib/libglobus_gssapi_gsi_gcc64dbg.so.0 libglobus_gssapi_gsi.so.4 $ ldd libglobus_gssapi_gsi.so.4 | sed 's!^\s*\(\(.*\)_gcc.*\.so.*\) => not found!ln -s /usr/lib/\2.so.? \1!p;d' >dolink.sh && sh dolink.sh $ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/tmp/foo ldd /usr/bin/globus-url-copy | grep -v '=> \(/usr\)\?/lib' linux-vdso.so.1 => (0x7fffb05ff000) libglobus_gssapi_gsi.so.4 => /tmp/foo/libglobus_gssapi_gsi.so.4 (0x7f87cc4e7000) /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x7f87cd5e2000) $ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/tmp/foo globus-url-copy gsiftp://host/file file:///tmp/q && wc -l /tmp/q 3 /tmp/q Comparing the source files between Ubuntu's globus-gssapi-gsi-7.5/library/* and /tmp/gt5.0.2-all-source-installer/source-trees/gsi/gssapi/source/library/ did not show any difference, however. [Bug 579895] Re: Resizing Multiple Times loses toolbar in KDE
** Description changed: + KDE toolbar can disappear when dynamically disabling a previously + activated display. This was found while using disper to change displays, + but as it has also been seen with nvidia-settings, it's likely to be + related to KDE. + + Original bug description follows: + -- My disper version is disper 0.2.2. My configuration is such that at the office I have two external displays on this laptop. 1600x1200 and 1920x1080 . I use the following command to enable those displays when I dock my laptop: disper -e -t left -d DFP-1,CRT-0 At home I use my laptop screen and a single display which is 1600x1200 and I use the following command to switch to that. disper -e When I undock from there, I may want to use my laptop screen only, which I use the command disper -s to activate. When I do this, my kde toolbar disappears below the bottom on the displayable screen, although my mouse will only travel inside the displayed screen, so it isn't a "Virtual Desktop" setting or anything like that.
