Problem solved by http://askubuntu.com/questions/153602/ubuntu-12-04 -sound-only-comes-in-headphones-doesnt-come-in-inbuilt-speakers-h "This seems to be a recent issue as I have this problem also in my HP Pavilion dv61355dx. Followed the two sound troubleshooting guides on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1885240 without results. Alsamixer settings are identical between 11.10 and 12.04. Version 11.10 (on an other partition): sound works ok.
