Public bug reported:

I have a Toshiba Satellite A665 running xubuntu:

$ uname -a
Linux pgraham-laptop 3.0.0-22-generic-pae #36-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jun 12 17:31:49
UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:    Ubuntu 11.10
Release:        11.10

When I try to suspend using the suspend button from the logout dialog,
one of three things happens: 1) the laptop suspends normally, 2) the
screen blanks but the fan keeps running, or 3) the laptop suspends, but
then hangs when I bring it out of suspend.

I see that suspend has been a problem on linux for many years. Is this
a general bug or is it a different bug for each hardware/os combination?

Paul
