[Bug 102759] Re: debug causes system not working properly

2009-02-15 Thread Enrico204
Ok, in Intrepid (8.10) there is the same problem, except for the output:
now the splash terminate immediately, and many line with
splash_progress appear. The system hangs after /etc/init.d/readahead
start. Ctrl-alt-del provocate only a change in the output with negative
values in splash_progress lines.

Ctrl-f1 bring me in tty1, but the keyboard isn't usable. X won't start,
and apparently no networking subsys are started (hostname in ttys box is
(none) ).

Note that when I uncomment the debug=echo, normal restart is
impossible: you need an hard reset. Ctrl-alt-del also do nothings.

2009-02-09 Thread Andrea Corbellini
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

[Bug 102759] Re: debug causes system not working properly

2009-02-09 Thread Enrico204
Now I don't have the last release, but in the last LTS (8.04) there is
the same problem. A splash screen appear after grub, but the loading bar
is always to 99%. After a few seconds, splash disappear and I can see
many /etc/init.d/... start lines (for example, /etc/init.d/cupsys
start). X won't start, sudo also won't work, both (I think) because the
root fs is mounted in read-only.

Tomorrow I'll try with 8.10.
