Public bug reported: Launching a UEC image (in my case on Eucalyptus in system mode), but I've seen similar reports in EC2. On launch, apt-check blocks initial login for MINUTES while collecting information for package updates. Afterward rsyslog eats 100% CPU failing to read proc/kmsg "Cannot read proc file system: 1 - Operation not permitted".
This effectively makes Ubuntu 12.04 precise images useless in the cloud and unsuitable as UEC sources. I'll try to make a patch and provide fixed images, but this is appears to be a regression from issues reported from Lucid and really needs a proper test plan and fix to ensure new cloud images are usable. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apt-check rc.local rsyslog -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1028682 Title: precise uec builds eat 100% cpu on launch, check-apt and rsyslogd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1028682/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
