One year ago I tested with upstream kernel 3.5.1. After a year was asked to upgrade the BIOS, done. Then was asked to test the newly released upstream kernel 3.11.0, done. You wrote "Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed", done, and now you removed the confirmed state. Now was asked to test with another distribution, I installed an LTS because do not want to change distribution often. same results with k3.11 ** Description changed: with this notebook (Asus K50IN), the reboot does not work, while a simple shutdown switch off the notebook. Sending a reboot command, either via Gnome shell, or init 6, do all the shutdown procedure, until "the system is restarting", but never do the restarting. I had to switch off the notebook by hand, holding the switch for 4 seconds, and then switch it on again. Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.5kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs- upstream-testing' tag. Please only remove that one tag and leave the other tags. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
