Still broken in 12.04 LTS. Surely it is time to support Long Term Support. Its kind of ironic isn't it? The humor was not lost on me either. LTS seems to have some problems. I am using ubuntu 13.04 and I can confirm that this issue is fixed in 1304. Earlier I had to mount my ARCH partition before updating grub.
