This really needs to be upgraded to a BUG. What camera can you buy now that doesn't come with video capability. Also F-Spot is the default photo tool, so as stated you have new users receiving a bad experience as well as old users such as myself wondering why it has to be so hard to get things off the camera. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104807 Title: Support for Videos -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 104807] Re: Support for Videos
I also would love to see this implemented. I'm very happy with the F-Spot software, but I almost wiped my SD card before realizing that the AVI files weren't imported. It would be nice if F-Spot listed the flies it couldn't import so that users were at least aware of it. Or even better, I would prefer that it copy all files into dated the file/directory structure during an import, even if some file types (such as movies) are not imported into the actual database. That way, I can safely wipe my camera card or delete an import directory without worrying about losing files. Unfortunately this is a dealbreaker for me. As another user mentioned, it's too much work to sync my camera to multiple programs. For now I'll continue using my lame Windows program to manage my photos :( -- Support for Videos https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104807 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 104807] Re: Support for Videos
Problem with not having this feature is that offloading files from a camera becomes a two-stage process -- first offload using f-spot then manually check for movie files, and copy those somewhere as well, in that case. Without this feature, it's too easy to just do the first step, then forget then other step, and clear the camera card without checking for other kinds of files. -- Support for Videos https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104807 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 104807] Re: Support for Videos
I would switch to digikam, just for the video handling (import, thumbnail preview, open w/ external app)... ...BUT since I have tagged like 9000+ photos w/ F-Spot and most of the tags are not embedded into the files, I cannot use my tagging system in Digikam. Hence I have to wait for the video feature to be implemented - and it's about time: according to this bug report https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=166038 the discussion started like 4.5 YEARS ago!! I've no programming skills what so ever, so I can't build that extension. [Bug 104807] Re: Support for Videos
This could be a very usefull feature also for me. But I have some questions: - May launchpad be also used for wishlist requests? - Doesn't Brainstorm do this? - What is the difference between posting a wishlist feature via launchpad (bug with "wishlist" importance) and posting a wishlist feature via Brainstorm? I think this isn't a bug else bug statistics offered by Launchpad, that are for me important to see how bug fixing is running, are altered as the would include really bugs and new requested features. -- Support for Videos https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104807 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 104807] Re: Support for Videos
I like F-Spot, but as the typical family snapshot photographer, I need be able to watch the occasional video, too. Funny thing is that F-Spot does show thumbnails of the avi vids, when it downloads the files from my camera (canon powershot). Why can't it show the same thumbnails later, and use an external viewer to play the videos. Digikam does this easily, so I had to switch to Digikam.
