[Bug 105438] Re: [needs-packaging] jahshaka
The company is now at cinefx.org I beleive and I agree that we need this, especially on ubuntustudio where its ridiculously unavailable. Its one of the best opensource video editors and its a shame we aren't able to install it! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105438 Title: [needs-packaging] jahshaka To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/105438/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 105438] Re: [needs-packaging] jahshaka
Now the development seems to run again, so we need a packaging! Why? Most companies flood the market with small sdhc camcorders, these devices did not use .dv files over firewire. For .dv i have kino and kdenlive but these programs cannot handle the mpg files from the new devices. There is no cinelerra and no jashaka deb package for ubuntu. If i need a bit more video cutting, i have to look for a windoze solution. But why when booth programs are available in source and rpm? Please package them, i read many tries ended up in lib-hell and strange version troubles. [Bug 105438] Re: [needs-packaging] jahshaka
Hi all, the trouble with this project is that developpement is not active, or very few but the 2.0 is a stable release and could easily be use to produce good after effects as this one : http://laurent.bellegarde.free.fr/bbc_films/ - rendu1 has been done with cinelerra 2.1 under hardy 64 - rendu2 has been done with jahshaka 2.0 under windows XP pro So as I left Windows(c) since year 2000, it's difficult to imagine there is no GNU/Linux solution to avoid using windows(c) for creating after effects with only free software. I could understand that this package could not be in universe because the project is non active, so to help user to get the software in 2.0 release available in ubuntu hardy/jaunty, we could help by hosting all the deb packages needed to install it in lprod.org repository, we have a dapper/hardy/intrepid/jaunty one. The trouble that i can't create the good deb/sources and I can't success the compilation too as I'm a user and not a developper or a packager. We need help about this work. Should I ask the getdeb team to help me ? [Bug 105438] Re: [needs-packaging] jahshaka
I think the project needs to be active to be considered for inclusion in universe - and Jahskaka doesn't seem to be moving forward since about a year when the latest news was posted. Sourceforge releases has not been updated since 2006. -- [needs-packaging] jahshaka https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105438 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 105438] Re: [needs-packaging] jahshaka
Hi all, is there a plan to package jahshaka 2.0 under Hardy/jaunty 32/64 bits ? It's a powerfull software that left a lot under Ubuntu since Dapper where it used to have a deb package. even developpement seems to be stop, an 3.0 release is announced since severals months, the 2.0 is already interesting. Jahshaka is like adobe after effect and it's the only free software that can provide realtime 3D effects for video post-production. [Bug 105438] Re: [needs-packaging] jahshaka
Just want to add my vote for this as well. Video editing is the only thing I need to go back to Windows for. Kino just doesn't cut it. Just a note that this should not be forgotten. - At least for Hardy - or the following release. [Bug 105438] Re: [needs-packaging] jahshaka
Importing my comment from the duplicate bug: I too second the need for an updated packaging for Feisty/Gutsy, one that hopefully could be included in the repositories. Packages for Dapper are already available. Use the Ubuntu installer script from the project homepage or add "deb http://repo.jahshaka.org/ubuntu/dapper/ binary-i386/" to your third party repository list and then install the package "jahskaka". They are however in no way stable for use on Feisty... I had to rewrite this comment just now because I installed started the above Jahshaka version (on my Feisty system) and X crashed when I tried to even browse for a media file to load. PS To Jahskaha developer's: why not use Launchpad to track bugs etc? Your current forum-based solution makes it hard to see what the current bug situation is. -- [needs-packaging] jahshaka https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105438 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
