Public bug reported: When booting a machine into Ubuntu via PXE as a LiveCD, the booted machine will not beable to ping google.com or any other domain. It will be able to ping the IP addresses of local machines. So I guess this is a DNS resolution problem? Trying to fix the situation through the GUI isn't possible because it says "Wired Network: Device Not Managed". Things will work fine if you connect to a wireless network though (that's how I'm able to post this bug report).
Here's the PXE menu line that I used for booting: LABEL Ubuntu LiveCD 12 32bit MENU DEFAULT KERNEL boot/ubuntu/ubuntu32/casper/vmlinuz APPEND root=/dev/nfs boot=casper netboot=nfs nfsroot=192.168.0.11:/tftpboot/boot/ubuntu/ubuntu32 initrd=boot/ubuntu/ubuntu32/casper/initrd.lz quiet splash -- IPAPPEND 3 This bug is present on both 32 and 64bit versions. It occurs across two systems that I have hear (and ancient desktop, and an this oldish laptop). If that boot configuration pasted above is correct, then I would assume you'll find this bug VERY repoducable. You can find a full tutorial on setting up a PXE server on a straight debian server here that I wrote, which includes at the bottom the procedure of adding Ubuntu booting to the PXE selection: http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/blog/1662/entry-3955-setting-up-a-pxe-server-and-booting-a-client-tftp-pxe-dhcp-nfs/ The odd thing is that LinuxMint seems to boot fine with access to the wired port.
