[Bug 1065972] Re: Man page of command kill is wrong

2013-10-16 Thread Andrea Corbellini
Re-reading the bug description, I can clearly see that the OP is using
Bash own kill.

2013-10-16 Thread Jonas Björk
I am the original poster, and it is confirmed that I was using the bash
built in kill.

$ kill -L
bash: kill: L: invalid signal specification

$ /bin/kill -L
 1 HUP  2 INT  3 QUIT 4 ILL  5 TRAP 6 ABRT 7 BUS
 8 FPE  9 KILL10 USR111 SEGV12 USR213 PIPE14 ALRM
15 TERM16 STKFLT  17 CHLD18 CONT19 STOP20 TSTP21 TTIN
22 TTOU23 URG 24 XCPU25 XFSZ26 VTALRM  27 PROF28 WINCH
29 POLL30 PWR 31 SYS

This bug is not a bug, but a misunderstanding. The bug could be closed.

[Bug 1065972] Re: Man page of command kill is wrong

2013-01-10 Thread Andrea Corbellini
Are you sure you are using /bin/kill? Some shells (including bash and
dash) have a builtin kill command which do not support -L.

[Bug 1065972] Re: Man page of command kill is wrong

2013-01-10 Thread Andrea Corbellini
For completeness: I just noticed that the man page of kill has the
following sentence, so I'm pretty sure nothing needs to be changed in
it.

NOTES Your shell (command line interpreter) may have a built-in kill
command. You may need to run the command described here as /bin/kill to
solve the conflict.
