[Bug 1066189] Re: 413c:2003 USB keyboard frequently stops working
Tested with kernel v3.7-rc2-raring and keyboard doesn't work at all. Not even detaching and reattaching the keyboard works. Just to be sure I'm doing this right: Do I need to install linux-image- extra? Or, is simply testing with linux-image enough? I tested without -extra. ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream-v3.7-rc2-raring -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066189 Title: 413c:2003 USB keyboard frequently stops working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1066189/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1066189] Re: 413c:2003 USB keyboard frequently stops working
Tan Kah Ping, thank you for testing the mainline kernel. The next step is to perform a Ubuntu kernel bisect from 3.2.0-23.36 to 3.5.0-17.28, in order to identify the last good Ubuntu kernel version, and first bad one. As per https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/quantal/+source/linux we have: 3.2.0-23.36 3.2.0-24.37 3.4.0-1.1 3.4.0-1.2 3.4.0-1.3 3.4.0-2.4 3.4.0-2.5 3.4.0-2.6 3.4.0-3.7 3.4.0-3.8 3.4.0-4.9 3.4.0-4.10 3.4.0-5.11 3.5.0-1.1 3.5.0-2.2 3.5.0-3.3 3.5.0-4.4 3.5.0-5.5 3.5.0-6.6 3.5.0-7.7 3.5.0-8.8 3.5.0-9.9 3.5.0-10.10 3.5.0-11.11 3.5.0-12.12 3.5.0-13.13 3.5.0-13.14 3.5.0-14.15 3.5.0-14.16 3.5.0-14.17 3.5.0-14.18 3.5.0-14.19 3.5.0-15.20 3.5.0-15.21 3.5.0-15.22 3.5.0-15.23 3.5.0-16.24 3.5.0-16.25 3.5.0-17.26 3.5.0-17.27 3.5.0-17.28 Hence, could you please test 3.5.0-7.7 via https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/3.5.0-7.7/+build/3692727 ? [Bug 1066189] Re: 413c:2003 USB keyboard frequently stops working
Tan Kah Ping, thank you for attempting to apport-collect. Feel free to skip this for now. As well, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the kernel in the mainline kernels archive directory daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.7-rc1-quantal This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags: kernel-unable-to-test-upstream kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. Testing on Windows 7 doesn't give any such problems so the hardware seems to be fine. + + https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKeyboardDetection#generalinfo : + + lsusb -v ~/lsusb-v https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1066189/+attachment/3404223/+files/lsusb-v + + uname -a ~/uname-a https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1066189/+attachment/3404240/+files/uname-a + + cat /proc/version_signature ~/version_signature https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1066189/+attachment/3404241/+files/version_signature + + sudo lspci -vvnn ~/lspci-vvnn https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1066189/+attachment/3404259/+files/lspci-vvnn + + https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKeyboardDetection#In_case_your_USB_keyboard_stops_working_after_a_while + + dmesg ~/dmesg_boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1066189/+attachment/3404260/+files/dmesg_boot + + diff -ns ~/dmesg_boot ~/dmesg ~/dmesg_diff https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1066189/+attachment/3404261/+files/dmesg_diff + + cp /var/log/Xorg.0.log ~/Xorg.0.log_tmp https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1066189/+attachment/3404282/+files/Xorg.0.log + + diff -ns ~/Xorg.0.log ~/Xorg.0.log_tmp ~/Xorg.0.log_diff https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1066189/+attachment/3404283/+files/Xorg.0.log_diff ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: linux-image-3.5.0-17-generic 3.5.0-17.28 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-17.28-generic 3.5.5 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-17-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: kahping1683 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: kahping1683 F pulseaudio Date: Sat Oct 13 08:18:03 2012 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=a8e14165-fc4c-446b-b4fb-30d858c0d447 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal - Beta amd64 (20120926) MachineType: ECS A780GM-A ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=set LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcFB: 0 VESA VGA ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.5.0-17-generic root=UUID=9b1bed7b-ef46-4723-aa17-4e7ef94d1375 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.5.0-17-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.5.0-17-generic N/A linux-firmware1.94 RfKill: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no SourcePackage: linux UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 11/23/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 080014 dmi.board.name: A780GM-A dmi.board.vendor: ECS dmi.board.version: 1.0 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: ECS dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr080014:bd11/23/2009:svnECS:pnA780GM-A:pvr1.0:rvnECS:rnA780GM-A:rvr1.0:cvnECS:ct3:cvr: dmi.product.name: A780GM-A dmi.product.version: 1.0 dmi.sys.vendor: ECS -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066189 Title: 413c:2003 USB keyboard frequently stops working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1066189/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
