[Bug 1067060] Re: Missing messaging menu after fresh Quantal Final install

2012-10-23 Thread Lars Uebernickel
Tim, evolution and pidgin have not yet been ported to the new messaging
menu library. We're tracking the progress in bug #1040259. There's
already a patch for pidgin which should be merged soon. Evolution might
take a while longer, because evolution-indicator is not yet compatible
with evolution 3.6.

Tim and Antec, if the messaging menu is still missing after you set up
an account in a messaging application, please report a bug with precise
steps to reproduce the problem. Thanks.

[Bug 1067060] Re: Missing messaging menu after fresh Quantal Final install

2012-10-20 Thread Antec
It is something that is not working properly, some as new-installing has
not even letter icon, myself, I have it and think it is because my
installation is a pre-alpha, but the features do not I get to work
unfortunately.

[Bug 1067060] Re: Missing messaging menu after fresh Quantal Final install

2012-10-19 Thread Tim Earle
I use several applications that integrate with the messages indicator.
Evolution, Pidgin, etc. The messaging icon is effectively broke/useless
in 12.10 as it is shipped.

[Bug 1067060] Re: Missing messaging menu after fresh Quantal Final install

2012-10-15 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report but that's not a bug but the intended
design, the menu is populated the first time you start an application
which is using it, on a default installation since you didn't run
anything and there is no menu item to show it's not displayed

** Package changed: nautilus (Ubuntu) => indicator-messages (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: indicator-messages (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided => Low

** Changed in: indicator-messages (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Invalid

After installing Xchat-GNOME the messaging menu appeared, but with only
the Xchat-GNOME and "clear" choices, nothing else.

[Bug 1067060] Re: Missing messaging menu after fresh Quantal Final install

2012-10-15 Thread Carla Sella
The messaging indicator was running when I rebooted after install.
A ps -ef |grep messages showed it started at 22:12:

ps -ef |grep messages
letozaf 1998 1 0 22:12 ?00:00:00
/usr/lib/indicator-messages/indicator-messages-service
letozaf 4810 4749 0 22:40 pts/200:00:00 grep --color=auto messages

and the last command showed that reboot time was also 22:12 :

letozaf@letozaf-PC:/var/log$ last
letozaf pts/2:0.0 Mon Oct 15 22:39 still logged in
reboot system boot 3.5.0-17-generic Mon Oct 15 22:12 - 22:41 (00:29)

So the messaging indicator started at boot but no indicator was present.
