I just commented on #39413.  I've found a fix for my problem by changing
the priority of when the hal service is launched to 99.  This won't fix
the problem for people who can't even detect the battery through tools
such as acpi, but it should fix the problem for people whose kernel is
reporting that the battery is being seen just fine.

Hi,
I upgraded my kubuntu (feisty fawn -> gusty gibbon) yesterday. Now I get 
messages that I would have removed the battery. The Notebook has battery and 
AC. My system is froen, when this message comes. I don't have a answer. Thanks 
for help.
Because my english is not the best, i write the message in german. 
My Notebook: Samsung R40 (Intel CoreDuo 1,73 GHz, 120GB HDD, 1GB RAM, ATI 
Radeon Mobility XPress 200M)

Ich habe gestern mein Sytsem von Feisty Fawn auf Gusty Gibbon upgegraded. Nun 
habe ich das Problem, dass jetzt schon zum 4. Mal die Meldung kam, dass ich die 
Batterie entfernt hätte, was allerdings nicht der Fall ist. Das ganze ist 
System ist eingefroren und nur ein Kaltstart hilft für den Moment bis die 
Meldung wieder kommt. Achja mein Notebook ist ein Samsung R40 (Intel CoreDuo 
1,73 GHz, 120GB HDD, 1GB RAM, ATI Radeon Mobility XPress 200M). Danke für Hilfe.

This happened to me today, how on earth do I fix this?  Rebooting
doesn't help.
