[Bug 1071891] Re: Crash VMware Workstation 9 on Ubuntu 12.10 (Linux 3.5 Kernel)

2012-11-30 Thread spectre
Set with the updated official VMware Workstation 9.

The update from them arrived very late, almost a month after a simple
patch a member of the Linux community. But VMware has teams of experts
with CASH very important ... I hope that next time will be more reactive
and VMware not wait to do a particular work in their place.

In short, I propose closing the bug.

[Bug 1071891] Re: Crash VMware Workstation 9 on Ubuntu 12.10 (Linux 3.5 Kernel)

2012-11-17 Thread pst007x
Patch mentioned above is NOT for VMware 9...

The vmware forums do mention this, with reference to Fedora, but NOT
Ubuntu 12.10.

I think best to downgrade back to an earlier Kernel or back to the
poorly put together 12.04...

I do not believe there is currently a solution available..

2012-11-04 Thread Victor Remmo
Check this out - it solved my problem..

http://communities.vmware.com/thread/415047

First I executed the patch then
sudo rm /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/misc/vm*
reboot
sudo vmware-modconfig --console --install-all

And now everything is working =)

It works great with this method, I tried with another patch but nothing.
By working against it. thank you;)

I'll share the solution on the French Ubuntu community for others who
have the same worries, hoping that it works for them too.
