@csoler: when you change your main group, it changes nothing in /etc/group, it just changes the gid of your main group in /etc/passwd. If you have a standard /etc/group, users GID is 100. @Massimo forti: concerning the forti group you're trying to delete. Are you sure it's not the main group of one of your users ? In my case I add a forti group because it was able to write in a particular samba partition and I associated this grouo to my user (all this using the user and gruop interface) . After I write in this partition, I decided to remove this group using the same tool. I remove the association of the group from my users (i haven't problems) and after I delete it. restart my machines but the group forti was not delete. It was not associate, but it was still there. I retryed, but nothing. I must done it manually. I want to add that the users-admin program does not work correctly also in Ubuntu 6.10. In fact I want delete a group, before added using this tool, but the file /etc/group still has the information. I have had change it manually.
