Whoops, my bad... problem still exists though...

My workarround is... editing xorg configuration files and adding edid
lines (even in 2013 this is necessary).

Can you please also attach a dmesg with drm.debug=0xe from the old

Apparently the VGA connector is simply not there ...

[Bug 1074844] Display resolutions missing on external VGA display [regressing]

2012-12-24 Thread 2green
On launchpad they requested to report this bug upstream. Please let me know
if any information is missing.

[1.] One line summary of the problem:
Display resolutions missing on external VGA display [regressing]

[2.] Full description of the problem/report:

The bug description can be found at:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1074844

[3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel):
-

[4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version):
Originally discovered on ubuntu 12.10, but also tested with mainline kernel
3.7 rc7. Currently I'm on Linux version:

3.8.0-030800rc1-generic (root@gomeisa) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro
4.6.3-1ubuntu5) ) #201212212135 SMP Sat Dec 22 02:36:00 UTC 2012

[5.] Output of Oops.. message
-

[6.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the problem (if
possible)
The problem occurs while connecting the display, in earlier ubuntu
versions a much higher resolution was default selected. Manually selecting
a higher display resolution is also not possible because higher resolution
are not present.

[7.] Environment
Description: Ubuntu 12.10
Release: 12.10

[7.1.] Software (add the output of the ver_linux script here)

[Bug 1074844] Re: Display resolutions wrong since update to 12.10 [regression]

2012-11-06 Thread Joseph Salisbury
This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest
upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug
report[0]? That will allow the upstream Developers to examine the
issue, and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug.

Please follow the instructions on the wiki page[0]. The first step is
to email the appropriate mailing list. If no response is received, then
a bug may be opened on bugzilla.kernel.org.
