I actually got the wi-fi working on the Ubuntu 13.10 live CD. Here's how: Ubuntu Software Center Edit Menu Software Sources Ubuntu Software Check all boxes then hit the close button. After this I closed Ubuntu Software Center. Then, I opened a terminal and entered: sudo apt-get update Last, I open Ubuntu Software Center again and typed broadcom (no quotes) into the search box. This found the following two packages: bcmwl-kernel-source b43-fwcutter After installing these packages I was able to use wi-fi on the Ubuntu 13.10 Live CD. The most descriptive explanation I've seen so far is, It's not working. It's not possible to investigate this bug any further without more information. You need to post basic info like system make/model, chipset model, driver package versions, dmesg logs, syslog logs, etc. And you need to explain the symptom more accurately than, It doesn't work. Besides all that, this bug is probably either fixed in Raring, or some people may be seeing bug 1097519. On the Ubuntu Securyty Notices site, it is stated that this issue is part of a fix for the USN-1696-2 bug, and there's a part of it that says this: ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change the kernel updates have been given a new version number, which requires you to recompile and reinstall all third party kernel modules you might have installed. If you use linux-restricted-modules, you have to update that package as well to get modules which work with the new kernel version. Unless you manually uninstalled the standard kernel metapackages (e.g. linux- generic, linux-server, linux-powerpc), a standard system upgrade will automatically perform this as well. So, what I did and worked fine to restore my wireless car was following the instructions con comment #11, from Subbin Hutton. I recommend you to be wire-connected and have your session booted on the 3.5.0-23-generic kernel, instead of any previous one. I too performed the steps suggested by Subin Hutton, after the recent Ubuntu-suggested-kernel-update. So, when I check my kernel (with the uname -a command), I now get: Linux 3.5.0-19-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 13 17:48:01 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Subin's suggestions were a successful work-around for me (with my BCM4322) too.
