[Bug 108940] Re: [apport] package python-dictclient failed to install/upgrade:
Thanks, Kevin. I removed it just now and did a search, but found and installed python-dictclient 1.0.3. No errors now. I think a recent change to my repositories found the correct critter this time. Question to whomever: Am I authorized to list this "bug" as resolved? -- [apport] package python-dictclient failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108940 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 108940] Re: [apport] package python-dictclient failed to install/upgrade:
I had this error too... I did a search in synaptic and saw python-dict. I decided it might of been corrupted so I removed it completely. I then went to add it back in, and it didn't show up in my search. So I guess there is a package in edgy-eft called python-dict that no longer exists in feisty fawn. It didn't get removed during the upgrade though (or at least was not removed successfully. Also--now that I removed python-dict, I no longer get the error. So, just remove the package and this error goes away! -- [apport] package python-dictclient failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108940 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 108940] Re: [apport] package python-dictclient failed to install/upgrade:
Well, I guess not having text in Gnome menus was irrelevant. Anyway, I'd like to say that I rebooted, Gnome session type was said not to exist anymore, but I am writing this in KDE that seems to work fine. -- [apport] package python-dictclient failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108940 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 108940] Re: [apport] package python-dictclient failed to install/upgrade:
Setting back to unconfirmed, as bug submitter have given a log file. I would confirm, but original poster seems to have a network timeout on getting the archive, that I don't find in my log files, so I am not convinced we have really same bug. ** Changed in: dictclient (Ubuntu) Status: Needs Info => Unconfirmed -- [apport] package python-dictclient failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108940 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 108940] Re: [apport] package python-dictclient failed to install/upgrade:
I seems to get the same error, at least I have seen the same error as previous message in my log files: pycentral: pycentral pkginstall: already exists: /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/dictclient.py I will attach my log files. I am a bit worry to see that now the upgarde seems finished, no text at all appears on the Gnome menus or status bar. I only have speaker icon on top menu bar, and trash can icon on status bar. ** Attachment added: "Paul's apt.log" http://librarian.launchpad.net/7541611/apt.log -- [apport] package python-dictclient failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108940 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for reporting this. It will help to diagnose the source of the problem if you can provide some extra information. If possible could you please attach the contents of /var/log/dist-upgrade to this report. thanks, Richard ** Changed in: dictclient (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Needs Info -- [apport] package python-dictclient failed to install/upgrade: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108940 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
