[Bug 1093085] Re: wireless headphone's radio stick removal freezes laptop
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.8 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance. OK, so this time when my daughter pulled the stick out, immediate kernel panic resulted. Should I run the apport command again? Should I file this as a kernel bug? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1093085 Title: wireless headphone's radio stick removal freezes laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1093085/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected precise staging ** Description changed: I have a Logitech H600 wireless head phone. When I remove the radio USB stick, my Lenovo X220 freezes. It becomes completely inoperable, and all I can do is shut down with the power button. The behavior is reproduceable. Though I have been doing this radio removal on a regular basis (say, once a week), I saw the crash only in the last week or so. I do update the 12.04 system diligently. Please let me know which package I should look at. - I don't see the problem when I remove the radio stick for my (also - logitech) mouse. + I don't see the problem when I remove the radio stick for my (also logitech) mouse. + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24. + ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu15.1 + Architecture: amd64 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USERPID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: apu1884 F pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC1: apu1884 F pulseaudio + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'PCH'/'HDA Intel PCH at 0xf252 irq 45' +Mixer name : 'Intel CougarPoint HDMI' +Components : 'HDA:14f1506e,17aa21da,0013 HDA:80862805,80860101,0010' +Controls : 27 +Simple ctrls : 9 + Card1.Amixer.info: + Card hw:1 'Headset'/'Logitech Logitech Wireless Headset at usb-:00:1d.0-1.2, full speed' +Mixer name : 'USB Mixer' +Components : 'USB046d:0a29' +Controls : 3 +Simple ctrls : 2 + Card29.Amixer.info: + Card hw:29 'ThinkPadEC'/'ThinkPad Console Audio Control at EC reg 0x30, fw unknown' +Mixer name : 'ThinkPad EC (unknown)' +Components : '' +Controls : 1 +Simple ctrls : 1 + Card29.Amixer.values: + Simple mixer control 'Console',0 +Capabilities: pswitch pswitch-joined penum +Playback channels: Mono +Mono: Playback [on] + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=ac88bc33-f45b-454e-94ba-4de90c7fcc3a + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20120425) + MachineType: LENOVO 4286CTO + MarkForUpload: True + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcEnviron: + TERM=xterm + PATH=(custom, no user) + LANG=hu_HU.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-35-generic root=UUID=aa1ca358-3891-4d90-a761-6bc42d58886f ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-35.55-generic 3.2.34 + RelatedPackageVersions: + linux-restricted-modules-3.2.0-35-generic N/A + linux-backports-modules-3.2.0-35-generic N/A + linux-firmware1.79.1 + StagingDrivers: mei + Tags: precise staging + Uname: Linux 3.2.0-35-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) + UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo + dmi.bios.date: 07/19/2012 + dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO + dmi.bios.version: 8DET63WW (1.33 ) + dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available + dmi.board.name: 4286CTO + dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO + dmi.board.version: Not Available + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information + dmi.chassis.type: 10 + dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO + dmi.chassis.version: Not Available + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr8DET63WW(1.33):bd07/19/2012:svnLENOVO:pn4286CTO:pvrThinkPadX220:rvnLENOVO:rn4286CTO:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: + dmi.product.name: 4286CTO + dmi.product.version: ThinkPad X220 + dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO ** Attachment added: "AcpiTables.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1093085/+attachment/3465901/+files/AcpiTables.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1093085 Title: wireless headphone's radio stick removal freezes laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1093085/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1093085/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
