This sympton has not manifested as yet. 8.10 is 'bug-free' so far. I have the same issue also. The only way I've found to 'recover' is to hold in the power button so as to restart the machine. Ubuntu 7.10, AMD 64 x 2, Radeon 9250 graphics card, 2 gigs RAM, AMD chipset. I'm using a Hardy amd64 fresh install and this happens as well. I did, however, set monitor to sleep after 5 min in power management. I just put it to Never and will check if this still happens. Also, Hardy can't seem to suspend properly here, but I'll report this elsewhere. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H (http://www.giga- byte.es/products/mb/specs/ga-ma69gm-s2h_10.html).
