[Bug 1119442] Re: No sound capturing possible - only noise - no hardware issue
I see (and hear) similar symptoms as well on Kubuntu 12.10 + KDE 4.10.1, but in contrast to what was reported in comment#2, I don't see extraordinary levels in pavucontrol. Audio recording did work well before KDE 4.10. PulseAudio version is 1:2.1-0ubuntu4. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1119442 Title: No sound capturing possible - only noise - no hardware issue To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1119442/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1119442] Re: No sound capturing possible - only noise - no hardware issue
Same here. I did not see extraordinary volume levels in pavucontrol. I had to go back to Kubuntu 12.04 LTS and everything works perfectly again now.
[Bug 1119442] Re: No sound capturing possible - only noise - no hardware issue
Please let me know if there is anything I can do. I really need sound recording for work, as I am a heavy Skype and Google Hangout user. I will have to go back to 12.04 LTS in about one week, and thus cannot provide details anymore.

[Bug 1119442] Re: No sound capturing possible - only noise - no hardware issue
Some more news: I installed Kubuntu 12.04 - no problems Updated to Kubuntu 12.10 - no problems Then I worked with the system for a while. Today, I paired my Plantronics Bluetooth headset, and the noise reappeared. I posted about this issue on Google+ [1], and it turns out that I'm not the only one who faces this issue: I installed pavucontrol (it pulls many gnome libs) and found volume levels of sound input devices are set to 25000%—64000% (sic!). Using pavucontrol I can set them to more reasonable levels of 80%—100% but if you move input level sliders in kmix volume levels get back to 25000%—64000%.
