[Bug 1125324] Re: Lenovo EasyCamera not working
Currently on 14.04 LTS 64-bit and the camera is still extremely dark. I've tried multiple applications to try and use it and no luck. I also have two identical Lenovo Z570's and they have the same issue. Nothing else has changed. Is there any solution to this? $ dmesg | grep Lenovo [1.768738] usb 1-1.5: Product: Lenovo EasyCamera [ 23.373465] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Lenovo EasyCamera (5986:0292) [ 23.375222] input: Lenovo EasyCamera as /devices/pci:00/:00:1a.0/usb1/1-1/1-1.5/1-1.5:1.0/input/input12 $ dmesg | grep uvc [ 23.373465] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Lenovo EasyCamera (5986:0292) [ 23.375325] usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1125324 Title: Lenovo EasyCamera not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1125324/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1125324] Re: Lenovo EasyCamera not working
Should have added this for my #12 comment. Still never got this to work. I have two identical Lenovo Z570 laptops and the same issue exists on both. I can see the camera operate in cheese, however you need to be in a really bright light source to see ANYTHING. Even tried a few tools to blow out the brightness and contrast, but still not much better than mediocre. Here is the information on my machine: dmesg | grep Lenovo [1.592905] usb 1-1.5: Product: Lenovo EasyCamera [ 22.925687] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Lenovo EasyCamera (5986:0292) [ 22.927540] input: Lenovo EasyCamera as /devices/pci:00/:00:1a.0/usb1/1-1/1-1.5/1-1.5:1.0/input/input7 dmesg | grep uvc [ 22.925687] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Lenovo EasyCamera (5986:0292) [ 22.927776] usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo Any update on this would be great, thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1125324 Title: Lenovo EasyCamera not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1125324/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1125324] Re: Lenovo EasyCamera not working
Ubuntu 13.10 with Linux 3.11.0-13 and the bug is still back here. Camera works only in VLC, other software like Cheese or Skype show black screen or artifacts. VLC every 2nd start shows too dark video (so only 1st start the video is OK). Once I managed to see camera view in Cheeze by changing resolution. But the problem stays that if I close Cheeze and run it again video is too dark. dmesg | grep Lenovo [5.708992] usb 2-1.6: Product: Lenovo EasyCamera [ 13.878756] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Lenovo EasyCamera (5986:0295) [ 13.879549] input: Lenovo EasyCamera as /devices/pci:00/:00:1d.0/usb2 dmesg | grep uvc [ 13.878756] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Lenovo EasyCamera (5986:0295) [ 13.879603] usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo [ 94.841005] uvcvideo: Failed to query (GET_DEF) UVC control 13 on unit 1: -32 (exp. 8).
Running 13.04 64-bit on a Lenovo Z570 for over a year now and the Easycamera webcam has never worked. I can see it in Cheese, but it is extremely dark. I have to be in basically full sunlight to see anything on my side. [Bug 1125324] Re: Lenovo EasyCamera not working
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.8 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance.
