I work with feisty since several months without problems. But since two weeks the speed for filetransfer to and from samba-shares is very slow (~50 KB/s). To find the problem, I installed an new Kubuntu gutsy (32-Bit) and also an Kubuntu gutsy (64-Bit). Both systems have the same behavior. I think the reasen is the specific combination from network adapter (onboard) and smbfs/cifs-protocol. UPDATE: Problem fixed - this is NOT a Samba issue. The problem was caused by the r8169 driver module for my realtek gigabit network card. Problem was resolved by forcing the installation and use of the realtek r1000 driver (v1.05 - off the realtek website). Now transfers are fine under all available protocols.
