Hardy Heron Alpha2 was recently released. It contains an updated version of the kernel. You can download and try the new Hardy Heron Alpha2 release from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/alpha-2/ . You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. Unfortunately I am no export when it comes to Ubuntu, thus i try to explain what i did try. Perhaps you can point me to additional tests that i could try: - As Leann suggested, I installed the linux-backports-modules. To be safe i restarted Ubuntu but the problem still exists. - I read about a similar sound problem occuring on Acer laptops that could be fixed by adding "options snd-hda-intel model=fujitsu" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base. the same issue with asus u3s notebook. Hello, I am running Gutsy beta on Fujitsu Siemens E8110. I can confirm the described error even on gutsy beta. The internal speakers are not working for me. I tried headphones and got sound. As far as I can tell, all Lenovo 3000 C200 laptops are also affected by this bug. As reported on http://lenovo.dropshock.com/archives/fixing-sound/ upgrading to a newer alsa version fixes this issue.
