2013-04-23 Thread Olivier FEBWIN
I've a similar problem.
The cursor continue moving but the screen stop updating.

I can resolve it by ctrl+alt+F3 and lunch unity --replace

My dmesg :

hung

[Bug 1134611] Re: Xorg/compiz/unity freeze

2013-04-04 Thread Bryce Harrington
For GPU lockup bugs with Intel graphics, you need to collect the output
of 'dmesg' and your /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state file. Both
of these must be collected while the machine is locked up (e.g. by
sshing into the sick machine over ethernet). See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze for additional info.

[Bug 1134611] Re: Xorg/compiz/unity freeze

2013-04-03 Thread Mark
I think I have this issue on my Dell Inspiron mini 1018.

When it freeze, my machine won't recover. Hard reset is needed.
Mouse cursor is moving, but clicking with the mouse and using the keyboard
isn't working.

[Bug 1134611] Re: Xorg/compiz/unity freeze

2013-04-03 Thread JuanJo Ciarlante
FYI I've upgraded quantal-raring in my x220, but still running oibaf[1]
quantal intel drivers -- been stable for several hours so far:

$ apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-intel
xserver-xorg-video-intel:
  Installed: 2:2.21.5+git1303251414.6b2092~gd~q
  Candidate: 2:2.21.5+git1303251414.6b2092~gd~q
  Version table:
 *** 2:2.21.5+git1303251414.6b2092~gd~q 0
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 2:2.21.5-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages

You may want to give it a try - note that there are no raring builds currently
at [1], so you'll need to s/quantal/raring/ at
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/oibaf-graphics-drivers-*.list

[Bug 1134611] Re: Xorg/compiz/unity freeze

2013-03-20 Thread Chris Wilson
Can you describe your freeze? Does the machine recover eventually? Does
the screen stop updating, but the cursor keep moving? Does the cursor
stop?

There's one more i915 patch that may be relevant depending upon the
exact nature of the freeze.
