I am having the same problem on Jaunty, it seems this bug isn't hardware specific. Looked everywhere, tried everything ... big waste of time... I also have this problem in Hardy / Intrepid / Jaunty on Advent 6001 laptop with QSI SDW 082 drive. Is it not possible to mount this drive as IDE without SCSI emulation? Cannot write a DVD+R with Hardy (8.04) on a Sony Vaio VGN-A270P. It worked in Gutsy (7.10). Just finished another attempt to write a DVD - system current with updates. Attached the session.log.
