Thanks for you question. You're right, it is probably a problem with right-management. A user should be a member of the audio group to have sound. I can help you for your user problem but not with your original problem before you created a new user. So you need to put your secondary user in the audio group. The problem is that you need a user which is a member of the admin group to change the groups. And you deleted this user All hope is not lost, you can boot your computer with root privileges with the following steps: a) reboot computer b) when you are in grub (the program where you can choose the kernels), press 'e' c) go down to the line beginning with "kernel" d) press 'e' again e) add "single" to the end of this line f) press enter g) press b Then you should have a terminal with root privileges. oops, i missread your description... So it seems your new user is already a member of the admin group.
