[Bug 114490] Re: Wireless (ipw3945) doesn't work after suspend/hibernation
I am using feisty and have been experiencing the same bug since some month ago (may be an upgrade). I can't even associate using iwconfig, however I found the following workaround: when I use iwconfig to associate to the AP, I also specify the channel as follows iwconfig eth1 ESSID MY_ESSID mode Managed channel MY_CHANNEL Channels can be listed by issuing the command iwlist scan. This suffices to associate to the AP, and makes the subsequent dhclient eth1 work and obtain an address. -- Wireless (ipw3945) doesn't work after suspend/hibernation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 114490] Re: Wireless (ipw3945) doesn't work after suspend/hibernation
I'm using Ubuntu Feisty on a HP Pavilion dv9000 and I have the same problem. My system is like this: 02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (rev 02) ipw3945 118816 1 ieee80211 34760 1 ipw3945 Linux tarvalon 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Thu Jun 7 20:19:32 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux -- Wireless (ipw3945) doesn't work after suspend/hibernation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I second ThomasDahlmann's questions: It is very annoying and stops me from using hibernation. Please fix this issue. [Bug 114490] Re: Wireless (ipw3945) doesn't work after suspend/hibernation
I also have this problem (only noticed it in Gutsy, but FGLRX hasn't let me suspend since Dapper or Edgy)... I can sometimes fix it with: sudo killall `ps aux | grep ipw3945d | grep -v grep | awk '{print $11}'` sudo rm /var/run/ipw3945*.pid sudo rm /var/run/dhclient.eth1.pid sudo rmmod ipw3945 sleep 2 sudo modprobe ipw3945 sudo /etc/init.d/dbus restart If that doesn't work, I try rmmod ipw3945, /etc/init.d/dbus stop, hit the wireless kill switch (Fn+F2 on my Inspiron), then bring ipw3945 and dbus back up. It's pretty annoying... a proper fix would be nice. -- Wireless (ipw3945) doesn't work after suspend/hibernation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

rapequ, have you tried the modprobe trick (modprobe -r ipw3945; sleep 1;modprobe ipw3945)? -- Wireless (ipw3945) doesn't work after suspend/hibernation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 114490] Re: Wireless (ipw3945) doesn't work after suspend/hibernation
Thanks for the hint Thomas. Yes I tried it and had no success. After my machine woke up from hibernate the network manager tried to establish a connection. Note: I cannot disable/enable the network before the network-manager tries to re-associate with an AP because the network-manager already tries to establish a connection when resuming after hibernate. I tried your trick after the network-manager failed to establish a connection. Anyway, thanks for your suggestion!
I am running Feisty on an Acer Aspire 5650 with latest updates (2.6.20-16-generic) and I am experiencing the same problem. This stops me from using Hibernate mode. Currently I don't have an opportunity to use any power safe modus, because Suspend To Ram is completely broken (this is not related to ipw3945).
My computer with Xubuntu feisty had a problem with getting an ip-adress after waking from hibernation. I´ve solved this problem by changing /etc/default/acpi-support Editing this file, look for the line below, where to add [networking] after that no problems anymore: # Add services to this list to stop them before suspend and restart them in # the resume process. STOP_SERVICES=networking Hope this will work for you to, Thomas.
Sorry Thomas (de Graaff). Your suggestion does not work on my Acer Aspire. I also tried Thomas (Dahlmanns) suggestion and disabled/enabled networking through the network-manager, but no success at all. Seems I have to stick with my (sad) situation a little bit longer. Thanks anyway, it was worth a try.
Thanks Thomas! I've tried it out and it seems to work out just okay. Not that it is perfect, I still have to disable/enable networking through network-manager before it re-associates to my AP, after resume from suspend or hibernation. But now at least I have a way to make it work without rebooting (just too much Windows over that solution ;ø) ) -- Wireless (ipw3945) doesn't work after suspend/hibernation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
