[Bug 114711] Re: Printers Freeze

2008-10-17 Thread lord_alan
Well, I can't comment about printing on Feisty. I have been running
Intrepid since Alpha 5. I do still have some printing problems which are
documented in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/273021.

It has improved since the initial report. But I still have some issues.

I will update that bug report. Thanks for the reminder :-)

2008-10-16 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release, Hardy Heron 8.04?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it,
which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in cupsys.

[Bug 114711] Re: Printers Freeze

2007-05-29 Thread ibob63
Hi guys,

I have noticed this problem on another machine as well. I have found
that this is fixed by restarted cups:

sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys restart

The printing then starts as normal until another restart is required:
Thanks,

James

[Bug 114711] Re: Printers Freeze

2007-05-24 Thread lord_alan
Hi all,

I have what sounds like a similar problem to others on this thread.

My setup is Ubuntu 7.04 (Desktop, 32bit) on an AMD 64 3200+ with a gig
of DDR Ram. I have two printers:

* A monochrome HP LaserJet 6L connected on LPT1,

* A Konica Minolta 2530DL Network attached colour laser printer.

The HP Laserjet printer is fine all the time.

The 2530DL works fine "most of the time" but sometimes the printer will
take an "age (30mins+) to print something. Opening the print queue and
looking at the printer properties gives me messages such as - network
host busy trying again in 30secs, or the job might be printing but the
percentage complete sits at odd figures like 36% for ages.

Repeatedly opening and closing the printer queue and pausing and
resuming things doesn't seem to make much difference. It is this end
that is the problem, the print job is not being sent to the printer,
it's not that the printer is taking an age to process the job itself.

The weird thing is, that once the printer bursts into life, all
subsequent jobs are fine... for a while at least.

I'm happy to do some digging if someone has some decent questions!

Al
