Public bug reported: Unity search (at least for applications) is broken in last update. It looks like search results are sorted much more by usage frequency than relevance to keyword.
Example, searching for GIMP, results while typing: --------------------------------------------- g Home Folder > Text Editor > VLC media player > Files > GIMP Image Editor > Software & Updates > GParted Partition Editor .... gi Firefox > Home Folder > Text Editor > Code::Blocks IDE > VLC media player > Rhytmbox Music Player > Files .... gim Firefox > Home Folder > Empathy Internet Messaging > Files > Archive Manager > GIMP Image Editor > Image Viewer .... gimp Home Folder > Files > GIMP Image Editor > Unity Tweak Tool > Time & Date > Simple Scan .... Even if I search for "GIMP Image Editor", gimp is not listed at first place. Worked like a charm before. Steps to reproduce: 1, Open dash 2, Try to search not so much used application 3, You will notice that results provided are not connected to keyword at all most of the time ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: unity 6.12.0daily13.03.05-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-10.19-generic 3.8.2 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-10-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.9-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' Date: Wed Mar 6 01:57:48 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-02-23 (10 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Alpha amd64 (20130223.1) MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: unity UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug raring -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1148183 Title: Dash search results are irelevant To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1148183/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
