an we reopen this? I've installed karmic 9.10 and am seeing the same thing. Two logon sessions running at the same time, user1 and user2. User2 logs off and gdm goes back to the lockout dialog window for user1, however my password never works here. I can do a workaround, by clicking switch user and going back to the main gdm screen and logging in just fine. I'm having still same problem. When I logon, the initial sound of Ubuntu 7.04 keeps in loop.
