Third message! After a reboot Unity didn't seem to looad either. "dconf reset -f /org/compiz/" and "setsid unity" I'm going to give it a new try when I have more time available. I updated to the 3.9 kernel but: 1) I can't install FGLRX 2) Unity doesn't load with the radeon driver (so no GUI :() 3) My media keys (including the standby button) don't work So I can't test the standby functionality with this kernel it seems. I remember that Ubuntu used to have a failback option but I can't seem to find it on the new 13.04 login panel. I can open the terminal with "CTRL + ALT + T" and run programs this way. Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.9 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.
