I can also confirm that the 3.8.0-22 kernel fixes the issue.

[Bug 1168930] Re: BUG: Bad page map in process udevd pte:00000004 pmd:2215bf067

2013-05-30 Thread Luis Henriques
Can someone confirm that the 3.8.0-22 kernel actually solved this problem?
Just for completeness, here's a link to an lkml thread where this bug is also
reported:

http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/1415941

The original email claims the issue is due to memory corruption in the
i915, although the system where this bug has been reported is using the
nvidia driver instead.

I have the same problem.
My PC sometimes doesn't boot with linux-image-3.8.0-19-generic. I have to
reboot it a couple of times.
With linux-image-3.9.0-030900rc6-generic I don't have this problem.

Attachment contains 3 dmesg log's.
2 of linux 3.8
1 for linux 3.9

[Bug 1168930] Re: BUG: Bad page map in process udevd pte:00000004 pmd:2215bf067

2013-04-21 Thread Paul Collins
I did not encounter this problem in 3.8.0-18-generic or earlier but I am
encountering it in 3.8.0-19-generic. I have also tried
3.9.0-030900rc7-generic (in an attempt to narrow down an unrelated
problem) and do not encounter this "BUG" message there either.

Below are all of the "BUG" messages I received while running
3.8.0-19-generic.

In case it's relevant, I do not have any swap space configured:

[Bug 1168930] Re: BUG: Bad page map in process udevd pte:00000004 pmd:2215bf067

2013-04-15 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.9 kernel[0]. You will need to install both the linux-image and linux-
image-extra .deb packages.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.
