Why is this NOT the default functionality of apt? I realise some people still dont have Internet Connection capable of handling parallel connections. But that no-longer applies to the majority! Dropping it into the repositories would be a great first step, but in an ideal world we could just use this code to patch upstream and then the vanilla apt-get would just be faster.
