If you don't want to build the binary from Github sources, consider using my pre-built packages, courtesy of the awesome service from openSUSE: http://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=home%3ATvangestepackage=goldendict Just select your distro (Ubuntu) and follow instructions for your Ubuntu version to add the new repository. Temporary solution - remove the new version of goldendict, manually install the previous version, and block it for the update. this bug was fixed by upstream https://github.com/goldendict/goldendict/issues/131 6th months ago.
