[Bug 1179015] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 kernel oops with Nvidia 319.17
Finaly it got fixed. Now my setup is: Bumblebee 3.2.1 linux-kernel 3.8.0-26-generic Nvidia 325.08 I had to repackage bumblebee-nvidia package to work around dependencies problem (it allways wants older nvidia driver version like 310 or 313). So I think this bug may be marked as fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1179015 Title: Ubuntu 13.04 kernel oops with Nvidia 319.17 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1179015/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1179015] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 kernel oops with Nvidia 319.17
Maybe this would help also. I have started thread in devtalk.nvidia.com for this bug also and here is one post: I downloaded Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS Server, installed it. Ran apt-get update then tasksel and installed Ubuntu Desktop after installing 310.xx Experimental Driver. I can now game on it and it starts up nice and fast. Everything is stable. 304.xx and 313.xx all give me the above bug, the 310 experimental driver does not. I tried the 310 on the 13.04 and it failed as well. I also tried the experimental driver with the 3.8 13.04 Kernel and it to failed and gave me the above kernel panic. I cant even download the regular ubuntu 11.10, 12.04, or 12.10 and use it because of this issue. I haven't tested this my self so.. But maybe this is usfull info.
Just for some more information. In weekend I have tried older kernels with nvidia-310.44 drivers and bumblebee 3.2.1. So for now I have tried 3.9.0-030900rc6 (with nvidia-319.17), 3.8.0-19 (with nvidia-304 and 310), 3.5.0-27 (with with nvidia-304), 3.2.0-40 (with with nvidia-304), 3.0.0-22 (with nvidia-304) and 2.6.38-15 (it doesn't boot on ubuntu 13.04). Every scenario failed on my machine with same or very alike kernel oops and black screen full of text. I can't understand what's going on differently on my machine then on others, couse fore everyone else nvidia drivers and bumblebee works fine. ** Description changed: Hi, - I'm encountering a bug in nvidia-319.17 Linux driver of kernel itself. [Bug 1179015] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 kernel oops with Nvidia 319.17
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.10 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance. [Bug 1179015] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 kernel oops with Nvidia 319.17
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1179015/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
