ok, so i went through the synaptic list again... to try and find the right applet and i found gnome-status-applet (installed) version 2.28.0, which coincides with the About information. So obviously this is not the correct applet. So I unistalled this, but lo and behold, after a restart the applet is gone and no option is available in the applet menu. Any ideas? Apparently, the correct applet is network-manager-gnome, and i do have it installed. It, however, does not appear in the Add to Panel menu. Any ideas on how to get it there? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
