Same distribution as Eduardo, but it also happens via the view menu as well. Having to use VLC for any files with automatically loaded/unwanted subtitles... far from ideal. Running Linux Mint 16 Petra Cinnamon, same problem here. Just realized that it freezes when you try to switch off subtitles from the context menu (right click on movie screen) but not from the view menu on the toolbar. Also doesn't freeze when you switch from one to another subtitle. Same here. mkv and mp4. It would happen with MKV, too. Changing subtile seems to be OK. When I turn off subtitle, it would happen. I hope someone fix it ASAP. this issue has been fixed by recent updates.
