I have just reinstalled libreoffice 4.0.3.3 from its official ppa (https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/libreoffice-4-0) and the problem seems to be fixed. Well, at least the menus are working and libreoffice does not crash anymore. It seems to have been fixed in the latest build from the same PPA https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ppa 1:4.0.3-0ubuntu1~quantal2. I also had the same problem and removing libreoffice-gtk solves it, but know LO user interface looks bad - tiny font, ugly icons. I just tried this & removed the libreoffice-gtk package & it appears to work.
