This started happen for me just recently too, first from suspend. Now also with normal cold boot. Everything in unity is super slow (many seconds to start search/dashboard thing). Will try to downgrade since i didnt experience it until recently. Note: does not seems to be related to kernel, went back to 3.8.0-22 with no changes. Shut down animations/effects in compiz with little effect. Confirmed. Changing "Dash Blur" to No BLur in General setting of Ubuntu Unity Plugin fixes problem. So, is it performance issue or a bug ? The error is dmesg is quite serious, but it seems not to be this issue related. Should be change as compiz or ubuntu-unity bug ?
